Hello All: My son and I just replaced the compressor. Your input was most helpful. Now just as we aired up the system, a old line attached to the govenor broke. This line seemed to be soidered. Problem: The line broke off just inside of the boxed-in area above the tranny. The bus I have has no way of getting to the lines from the top. So it appears I might have to cut open the box to get at the line. The question I have is are both lines coming off of the govenor needed? There is also some kind of air guage located in one of my bays that I don't know the use of. I turned it on and air came out. Could I maybe run a line from that guage back to the govenor? Hope I'm making sense. Ron |

Hello RonR. If you have two lines, as 2D says, no shortcuts. One line is the pressure line back to the governor from the wet tank, the other is a signal line to the air dryer. Without the first, the governor cannot sence the amount of air in your system, and won't be able to control the amount of air pressure in the system (by cutting the compressor in and out), and without the second, the air dryer will not purge, and possibly block the flow of air to the wet tank, if it is currently in the "purged" configuration and does not receive its proper pneumatic signal. Welcome to the joys of owning an older piece of road going machinery....! happy coaching! buswarrior |
