Im taking out my 4 stock windows that are left in my 4905 and filling in openings then cutting in smaller square windows to better acomadate my floor plan. I cannot afford new windows at this time do you see any reason I cant or shouldn't use smoked plexi glass over new openings untill I can actualy afford new windows? I will seal them very well, screw them in place and put a drip rail above them |

I agree, I think the plex will be expensive. You'd be better off buying a couple windows and block off the others till you can afford them as you go. If this is going to be an extremely long term plan, they sell plastic windows, acrylic for window replacement at ACE and others such stores in pretty large sizes, still expensive but not as much as Plex. The acrylic is only about 1/8 in thick but it will keep the water out. "Imagine" cd |

this really isn't makeing much sense.....you ARE going to put windows in someday...you need framework for them...you can't just attach windows to sheet metal..need lots more planing...find the size window you want..build framework 1/2 " wider & longer...THEN skin the framework.. |

I agree. Start shopping for windows now. Search out salvage or surplus NOS windows etc. You can find them for pretty cheap at places like Gamblers, Colaws etc. Then build frames and skins to the size of the windows you have on hand. Or leave openings fullsize and do all skinning later when you get the windows. Or prepare to buy top-dollar Peninsula Glass to fit your OEM window holes. No sense doing it all twice. Scott |

Do it twice ...or even three times!!! By the time you get far enough along to want them, you will most likely have changed your mind about the placement/size etc. several times. Use 1/8 acrylic sheet and waterproof caulk under it. Dull a drill bit, or run it backwards, so it doesn't "grab" ans split/crack the acrylic, and make washers out of small "O" rings. Cheers...JJ |

What about checking around for salvaged RVs - motorhomes or trailers - and getting some decent used windows for a one time installation? |

I'd only want to do it once..& don't take the old windows out till you have the new ones ready to go in...a couple of good rains...or snow will ruin your bus inside...then...you will have to PAY somebody to haul it off.. |
