now we just came thru Hurricane Irene, Not a scratch and the storm passed directly over us, So we leave The eastern shore of VA, yesterday heading to hershey Pa, You see the largest Rv show of its kind starts next week and we have to be in early before they block our path to the display area, NOW it it raining, cats, dogs frogs and everything else that gets wet. Finally sloshing thru that 200 mi we arrived in hershey Pa, and just about to the rv park, Like I said just about!, Now the road is flooded under the by pass before the park, so OK we can see the park from here but as we are told, YOU CANT GET THERE FROM HERE! They were right we finally found away around, and pulled in the park. Did not look too bad at first, the we noticed a small creek running thru the center of the section we were to be, They said it dose that some times but never gets deep, Now mind you our H model only sets 6 inches off the ground when leveled. They gave us a new site till the storm passes, higher and drier. Great we noticed after checking in and getting parked that the entire back half of the park is flooded about 3ft of water, of course its still raining dogs frogs and everything else, so we ate watched the weather and noticed a severe flood watch for the entire vicinity, from the time we came back out after a break in the weather, the water was now creeping up our way, Dont worry we were told by the local work campers, never gets this high, Well I was born at night but not last night, so we decided to leave, ONLY to find that the main Roads were closed due to flooding, we could not leave, BUT there is a alternative, go up the hill here in the park, which is just above the cloud line its self, So that is where we are tonite and according to the local weather its where we will be for 3 days, Dry camping in a high class park,AS of this writing the store is being flooded the pool is out of site and only roof tops of pavilions are visible, So just in case it gets this high, DO BUSSES FLOAT?????????? |

Bill I'm sure you hope it will float but deep down you know it won't. At least not for long. Good luck and I hope you make it out in due time safely. This sure has been a bad year for flooding everywhere. Bill |

Update.. well we are all safe and dry, so far, the high spot we were on was evacuated at 6 am today, the campground is now under 12 ft of water, and we are at the Hershey motor lodge, plugged in to a 20 amp plug at the maintenance building, No campsites that can be accessed, they let us plug and stay free because it has been declared a state of emergency here. Just goes to remind everyone that when converting , have some type of system so you can live for a short term on a 20 amp plug, COFFEE, water, and a great wife. and a dog , all 4 are a must, |

Bill It is real easy to make a pig tail that has two 15 or 20's into thirty or fifty amp plug. I had to use mine for nine days in Tulsa a couple of years ago, infront of repair shop. worked very good. Sean showed me how to wire it. He was a lifesaver. Hope that will help. Larry |

Sounds like you're going to need a fishing pole to supplement the larder if you can't get to the store! |

Bill 340 - what campground are you at? For future reference for all of us. I take our bus down to Hershey often and want to make sure I plan ahead if the water starts to flow! I tried to stay at a Thousand Trails down there once - first they made us drive through some tiny town hardly enough room to make turns for our Eagle - then they tried to put us in a spot for a 30' RV... I had to unhook the Jeep in order to drive around to look for a spot. We had reservations but they told us sites were first come first serve! Ended up staying in the parking lot over night and spending the next night at WalMart! |
