how do you check to see if the pannel is ok? have a arco solor pannel been sitting since 99 |

Dragon is right. The panels make power from the direct sunlight. If it is still in the box, it will have a cardboard over the solar array. Keep that on until you are ready to test. put a meter to test voltage on the leads, then remove the cardboard to see what your voltage is. If you have the ability to test for load, now is the time to do that too. If you cannot test for load, you should be ok. I am told that they arrays do not have much that can fail, though it is possible that you can lose a section of the array and still read proper voltage, just no or little amps. Remember too, you will only get full amps at full sunlight and it will dwindle down as the sun goes down. The array will indicate full voltage, no load, almost to twilight. Good luck "Imagine" cd |

My 12 Arco M51's in storage for 10 years are still good. They should store for hundreds of years. Put your Fluke on it to get the V max and A max readings. Doing this in the daytime works better. |
