How many of you have kept your Destination Sign? How many regret it? How many that removed them regret it? Have you been able to get custom sign rollers made? where? How many of you think this post is a waste of time? ;-]

We have kept our destination sign, but haven't done anything yet about a custom sign. It's just rolled to the blank part for now.

I had to remove mine because of the GMC 4905 cap. There was information that people collected them, I have been waiting for such a person to show up, and since storage is sold I think I will try it on EBay before I trash it. Cute one, only Hawaii destinations on it!

I've removed mine and am using the space for: generator(onan DKD) remote with gages, inverter (Trace SW2512) remote, leveling system (homebrew) controls, tank monitors(future), Webasto system controls, remote spotlight controls, rear view monitor. I'm planning on still having a fixed sign which'll probably say "My Way" .

Custom scrolls are avilable , but fairly expensive.

Last time I checked it was about $400 for a scroll with 15 0r 20 "destinations".

Keeping the std. scroll has many fun uses.

WE dial in "La Guardia Airport", when crossing the GW Bridge into the City , and give the lady $20.00 bill.

Usually get $17 in change , the bus price!!

Works for me ,

We kept our destination sign, mainly because it had a sign on the scroll that said PRIVATE COACH. This also saved having to re-do the interior above the passenger windshield. Just "our way", your milage may vary. Jack

when I got the bus it was all blacked out, has a fiberglass lense in it. Took some oven cleaner and got the paint off. Now it has the offical name in place MOTHERSHIP I think very fitting for the shape of the 4104 -----Bill 4104-4032

The destination sign on our 4106 is still functional. The scroll has some fun settings, Worlds Fair, New York City, Express, Special, (and a bunch of places in FAST FRED's part of the world).

I was sport'n EXPRESS when I was pulled over by the Texas law do'n 78 in 70 (I'll need to run those tach=mph calculations again). BTW I got off with a warning.

I'm in the market for used scrolls that will fit our coach.

I plan to put in a stained glass window with an ivy, flower design in a cabinet door frame that will cover that area from the inside. The destination window will back light the stained glass. should give a nice effect.

We've kept ours just for the fun of it.
We plan to add the names of a few new destinations also for fun. Bonneville, Telluride, Kansas City, Penjamo, Uranus, Indy, Sturgis, Whoop Whoop, Loudonville, Fairbanks, etc.

Yep, Paul has the idea. Here's what I want, instantly programmable thru a PC, with user-defined messages at the touch of a key.

For mounting front AND back.

Woo Hoo! Just think of the road rage you could cause...(or prevent)

I enjoy the destination sign in my 4905; I plan to keep it.

At the bottom of the scroll I was delighted to find the perfect message for my rig: "WRONG BUS".

Mine is unusual for a schoolie--I have a route sign, with cards reading: "SCHOOL BUS", "SPECIAL", "CHARTER", and "NO STOPS". I plan to use the back of the school bus card to make a "Private Coach--Not For Hire" sign.

Well, NOW I am that thankful Chuck. I just sold my old destination sign on the "Destinators" board for $125.00. Just think, I was about to trash it.
Thanks a lot for the tip Chuck.

WOW!
Heck I got one, but all the names are boring, like Little Rock, El Paso, Waco, Racetrack, etc.
Next time (and oh, yes, there will be a next time) I'll look for a coach that has traveled to exotic destinations!

"Waco" is booring?

Where else did the US gov. decide to slaughter (fry alive) almost 100 women & children for being CHRISTAIN?

And it sure brought out the cannibals though, you could see hitchikers for days with gallon jugs of BBQ sauce heading for Waco!
Just wondering though Fred, exactly how did you find out the religious faiths of 100 dead burned people? That must have been quite a trick, far beyond any science that I was aware of.

I it was common knowledge that the
"Branch Davidians" were a Christian sect.

Hence worthy of being BURNED ALIVE ,
so the feds training , reassignment and promotions could be back on Sked.

"So many Christains , so little Time"

Thanks ,Janet (Butch ) Reno ,
your taking "full responsablity " sure has me feeling better about crispy mothers & children..

Fred,

Not wishing to condone what went on at Waco, but when the law, whether being right or wrong, is being ignored, then it is anarchy. The sect could have come out when asked and no one would have burnt. They brought it upon themselves by staying put.

They appeared to have wanted to be martyrs to their cause, sorta like Jonestown where a few wanted to die and made the rest die before them.

Not really the subject for a bus site, but you brought it up.

Peter.

I had to go back and check on your "common knowledge" Fred. It was not 100 but in fact 75 people that died, and never once was anybody there ever characterized as a Christian. Clearly it was a totally lawless religious cult.
