A month or so ago I posted here with a message that the Jake brake had stopped working on my MCI-8. Several folks offered suggestions (thanks for the help), but I got side tracked for a while finishing up some other projects, so it took a while to get to it. I had no luck, so I took it to a shop, and they said the switch on the engine needed replaced, and they had to order one. Monday we needed to make a trip from northern Michigan to Elkhart, Indiana, and I was checking oil, etc before starting out and noticed a cotter pin broken that appeared to hold a spring on the throttle assembly. Replaced the cotter pin and hooked the spring back up, and the Jake now works!!! Apparently it was a throttle return spring. I never noticed any difference driving, though now the accelerator pedal feels stiffer. |
