Near Hinton Alberta this afternoon. A junior hockey teams bus from Edmonton left the road during very poor road conditions and ended on its side. Some very serious injuries. |

Joe It is so uunfortunate when these things happen. Lets just hope everybody comes out okay in the end. I see on last nights news that Alberta got hit with a MAJOR storm. A lot of damage from that one. Bill |

I drove our local junior hockey team's bus as a volunteer for several years. I quit at the end of last season for several reasons. One of them is, I felt lucky not to have had an accident and didn't want to push my luck. Most of the driving is of course in winter conditions and at night. It is to say the least challenging. I feel sorry for the driver as he must be feeling terrible. And for the players and families as it is undoughtly traumatic. I hope everyone comes out of it allrigt. JC |

JC Most are back home again tonite, lots of bumps and bruises. If I heard correctly on tonites news, only the driver and one other person are still hospitalized. The MCI rolled over once and ended up on its side. Driving conditions were dreadfull according to the RCMP. |

why horse trailers are built like buses not sticks and glue. last friday two ladies were taking their horses to a horse show 50 miles north of us ,25 miles from home a fellow following the in a 3/4 ton pickup slammed in to the back of the horse trailer throwing the ladies truck across the fast lane into the cement divider which ripped the horse trailer off their truck causing the trailer to roll 3 time and then flipped end for end ending up in the ditch due to the heavy rain that was falling with lots of water in it.now the good part ,a vet was driving the other way and seen the accident happen and was able to give the horses shots to keep the calm until the fire truck arrived with the jaws of life and were able to free the two horses, theold one[20]started the trip in the front of the angle haul however after all the rolls and flip it ended up at the back behind the young one [5]years old. now the very good part , another vet showed up in a bus and helped the first vet . all total 2 trucks wrote off ,1 horse trailer wrote off, 2 brusied ladies that are very stiff and sore and the 2 horses only one had cut on the face of the young one but they have no broken bones and they are also very stiff and sore. so now is a horse trailer built like a bus ore is a bus built like a horse trailer??? oh i forgot to add that the driver of pick up that caused the accident was texing his wife at the time during a very heavy rain fall. |

And you wonder why they made cell phone use of any kind illegal in Ontario. I think the illegal use is spreading to the USA and other provinces as well. Put the damn phone down and concentrate on your driving before you kill somebody. Bill |

Bil, I agree the texting is a problem. However, I am smart enough to reach over, grab a phone, hit a button or two, and talk on it through the bluetooth in my ear. Sort of like reaching for a map and looking at it going down the road. I also eat going down the road, not a hard thing to do either.Jack |

Alberta has also passed a distracted driving law that prohibits the use of hand help cell phones. It is still ok to use hands free. Big adjustment for me as I do a lot of business on the phone on the road but I still support the idea of not being distracted when driving. Lady!!! get that dog off your lap! How can you drive with a coffee in one hand while you light your smoldering soother with the other? Guess the law needs some fine tuning |
