Have been thinking about putting the gen set on the passenger side of the bus and putting the exhaust up thru the roof using a quick release connection so using the slide out will be easy. Doing this because I want to make the weight distribution even, any reasons for not doing it? Has anybody else done it?

Only negative I can think of is, depending on the noise/heat level, sitting under your awning with generator running could be uncomfortable due to noise and/or heat. A friend is moving his generator from passenger side to drivers side for this reason (generator was already installed on passenger side when he purchased the bus). It is impossible to sit on passenger side of bus due to noise and heat blowing through generator radiator and exhausting through baggage door opening.

I've had it on the passenger side and I moved it to the drivers side with exhaust thru the roof.
Reasons? Noise while trying to relax sucked, I'd never put another gene on the passenger side even if it was quiet.

I put the exhaust thru the roof because no matter where it was on the ground, on a calm day the stink would find me. Out the roof I havn't smelled it since...

I think Two Dogs may be onto something. My Crown may end up with two (2) fake warp engines on the rear roof since I am a "Treker".

Which Two Dogs is NOT. (I think) The math alone figuring out the top weight influence and if the coach could bear it would be fun.

Coaches/schoolies were designed to carry a bunch of people well up above the floor sitting in seats. Most RV conversions tend to end up...

...fairly light with little top weight. COULD you mount a 600 pound gen set on the top inside a sound proof aerodynamic pod?

The mind boggles. Well, my feeble mind anyway. Two Dogs, seriously, you may be onto something. Or maybe like me on something. He he he.

On a lighter note, usually the passenger (right side) of the coach is the quiet side and the driver's side is the noisy side.

I do not know if a right side gen set could become quiet and unstinky enough to be able to run while sitting under the right side awning. Good luck.

a couple of short pieces of chanel iron to stradel the roof beams ,rubber motor mounts, maybe one of those air dams that are mounted on big trucks(on top) maybe two of them, one turned around backward, the mind 'wanders'...

Anybody thought about taking the hot air from the rad exhaust and venting thru the roof also? Pull it from the top of the coach with a forward scoop and then out the top with a reversed scoop and the engine exhaust in the middle??? the bus has a curved roof so all one would have to do is figure out how much would be needed on the high side of the curve and then how much on the low side yes???

Bulldogie: Buy a Flx Clipper for your roof scoop. Geoff Smith has his Isuzu 8kw mounted in the former A/C compartment of his RTS, up top and in the rear, above the engine.
