Just talked to a friend who just got back from the Oshkosh Wis. airshow. She enjoyed it, but was still sore from the $expense$ involved. Did anyone do it this year? Was it enjoyable? Would you do it again? How $expensive was it? It is on our "must do list". Thanks in advance. |

The expense of Oshkosh can appear to be high, but for what you get it's not bad. You need to be a member of EAA to get a decent deal ($40 a year including the magazine "Sport Aviation"). Member entry for the week (Tuesday thru Monday) was $95 and the spouse was $45. This include entry into the EAA Museum, a very class act. Dry camping was about $20 a day but you have to pay for the week up front and you get a refund for any days you do not use (three day minimum) when you leave. There are shower houses, porta-johns, water available and a nice large dumping station. There is a $2-3 honor system box for the dumping. Would I go again? Well this was my 24th consecutive year attending but I am an avid airplane homebuilder (working on my fourth plane). For anyone interested in aviation it is a must see. You will never see that many historic, homebuilt and other unusual airplanes in one place. |
