Hahaha, Bill. Um, let me think about that for a second. No. I'll reconsider. Still no.

Ian, it would be more than just a chance to drain off some of that excess money thats been laying around, it would be an excellent reason to do some serious drinking, can't beat that for an opportunity.

Would a magazine for the busnut hobbyist be a viable business opportunity?

This is as good a time as any for the community to discuss this.

How about some analysis?

Either post it here or fire it to my e-mail at buswarrior@busnut.com

Bus Conversion Magazine is not the only one in trouble.

A vast number of titles in the hobby magazine industry are already dead, never to return.

However, there are a good number that are healthy, vibrant and carry on.

Is the busnut/conversion hobby able to support its own magazine, and will it at this point?

happy coaching!

Given the additional input in this thread, please let me give it one last re-think. Still no.

There are lots of ways to throw away money, owning a bus isn't the only one, my one wish is that the chat room were active, I can't seem to find living beings in it at any time, no bus nuts either.

Bus Conversion Magazine is not the only one in trouble.

Even FMCA where no skills are required on sticks and staples is in trouble.

Fraid the skill set required to do bus conversions , and the ambition to take on a year long project is dissapearing from our society.

The folks with the ability are now aging Boomers , not looking to take on projects , just looking to simplify life.

The next generatio9n has been instructed that working with your Hands and brain is low class , passing paper back and forth is real work.

Fred even paper passing is going obsolete. Last 5 years or so the push is "Green, paperless office". I am a technical sales rep. I virtually never print out a quote or order, and only send about one fax per year. I do everything in my laptop, even signing the orders with a jpeg signature then e-mail 'em to customer of factory.
I have a home office, (when I'm not on the road), going to the company's branch office only twice a year (for trade shows). Another rep hasn't set foot on company property in 4 years!

But I believe you're right about the boomers aging out with few replacements. I rarely see a converted bus rolling down the road like used to be common 7-8 years ago (and I'm on the road a lot across 8 states!) The worst thing I note though, is that the bus boneyards/ repair businesses are fading away due to zoning regulations, age of proprietors and the PRICE OF SCRAP METAL. I see a lot of coaches being dragged to the scrap yard instead of gathering dust in a boneyard.

Employment wise, paper is forced out. No choice.

But, as consumers...

If a market is prepared to pay, and desires paper over screens...

The question is: Are busnuts one of those markets?

happy coaching!

Yes, nothing like having a magazine there next to you while you're dropping your friend at the pool!

How many boats are out on the waters now? How many have too much invested in our coaches to just get rid of them? I feel for those a few years back that used their retirement chunk to buy a $400,000 unit that is worth $80,000 now with no buyers and just sits.Look at Fred's coach. It has been sitting there for years with the tire protectors on it. Doesn't look like it has moved an inch. There are no tracks in the snow around Buswarrior's coach either.........

Fred,

Agreed. BNO is no longer a Commercial member of FMCA. Business requires a reasonable and responsible ROI. The ROI in my former membership with FMCA was zero.

'Nuff said.

It has been sitting there for years with the tire protectors on it.

We are snowbirds and do the usual 5,000-10,000 miles a year in commuting and camping.

We have found it is difficult to keep the tire protectors om much above 50mph.

And we never cruise off the peg.

One of the more interesting changes on our "new" coach is the driving style.

The 4106 is driven floored and with our 1950rpm gov setting runs about 70mph .

So as long as the speed limit is 60+, full throttle works fine.

THe VL would be running far to fast (100mph?) to operate in the pin with a 2.93 rear and .83 OD.

Cruise control next!!For sure.
