Is there a good source for side window replacement? We have a piece of cracked glass in one of the passenger side rear sliding windows. A new piece of glass might look too good, I think?? IDK I thought a used one with some character might be a better replacement. It's for a 61 TDH 4516 are they all the same? It's not safety glass like we use today, it's some kind of laminated glass, maybe it's dangerous and should all be replaced with new?? Oh I also need a couple of sliding window latches and latch hooks for the side windows Is there a source for those parts.

My AMGeneral has rectangular glass. I had Peninsula glass make new sliders with light gray tint. They are extremely tight (so much so I have to keep one of the roof vents open or your ears will pop each time someone shuts the door) and you won't believe how much quieter the bus will be-combination of much less out side noise and no more rattling windows. I believe that Peninsula makes GMC replacement windows. Good Luck, TomC

Scott,

In those days this was knows as Safety Glass, had a plastic core to keep glass from shattering into wicked shards. Trouble was it also held together and decapitated people when their heads went through a hole in the glass!!

There was no tempered glass in those days that I know of although my '67 Barracuda has tempered glass, not sure when it changed.

Odd how different countries specify different glasses. We use (compulsory) laminated, (plastic cored) front screens and side glass where driver and passengers are, alternative is acrylic or safety glass for other areas, the stuff that shatters into a million little diamonds. We used to use safety years ago but changed to laminated. Shame there aren't world wide specs. This is one of the problems importing RV's into this country.

Dirk
