I guess the City ofÊMuncie, Indiana famous campground needs to close due to lack of visitors. When I go camping. I do fly my Confederate and Virginia flags. They identify where I am from. I am a history buff and have visited many Civil War sites. Many times I fly my Parrot Head banners along with my parrot lights too. What is wrong with NASCAR? Go 38 & 88. I can understand the desire not to attract Trailer Trash. I guess some of the banners I fly may make you think I am one.... I can guarantee you, I am not! It is not like everyone is hanging their bloomers up on a flag pole to dry. ( I do not do that) Before I step off of my soapbox. What the heck is wrong with the United States Flag? It is who we are. MIA/POW. We should never forget what our military has done for us to allow us to live the life we live. It may not always be perfect here. I can tell you I do not want to live anywhere else. Jeff: This Post and Your Reply hit a Nerve with this 61 year Old Guy!!!!! In the attempt of Americans to be politicaly correct, in my opinion, we have bowed down to, and kissed parts of the the Human Body, that are best left covered!!! Now how is that for politicaly correct????? It is O.K. to Burn the American Flag??? It is O.K. to take Prayer out of School???? It is O.K. to take the Pledge of Alliance to the Flag out of School???? Now why should it become such a shock that a camp ground wants No Flags at ALL!! For thinking Americans I strongly urge you to go out and Vote your Conscience on 11/02/04. It was Never More Important!!!!! And what has this got to do with Campers or Coach Conversions: Everything, in my Opinion!!!! We all read the same Boards: Who was turned away because it was too old, or Because it is a Bus etc. etc. etc. Not to confuse the issue, owners of a Camp Ground can set their own rules, but if they take positions to comfort the radical few, I would think, they might lose the majority????? Then again, perhaps we have gotten to the point that the "Non-Flag" folks out-number the "Flag" Folks???? But what do I know????? Thanks for listening!!! LUKE at US COACH |

Another opinion? ""Canan said he made the decision to clean up the look of the campground, and that Confederate flags, NASCAR flags and liquor banners had created an atmosphere of visual clutter. But on Tuesday morning, Canan issued a letter to campers saying he regrets his decision to ban the American and POW/MIA flags and apologized for any inconvenience or stress the issue has caused. Men and women have fought and died for the American flag, he stated, and stressed that his decision was wrong. The other flags are still banned, however. After the original flag ban went into effect, a handful of campers sued the mayor, arguing that their right to free speech had been muzzled, and that the city couldn't permit some flags to fly and ban others."" The raising and flying of our American flag should always be permitted. But aside from that particular flag, the bottom line (for any government sponsored entity), is that if they're going to ban one, they've got to ban all; if they allow one, all should be permitted, otherwise we'll have anyone's particular prejudice dictating our freedom. Now.... some of the RV park's policies regarding older RVs, home-made conversions, etc are another matter. I just cancelled my FMCA membership for their sponsoring of parks that refuse RVs older than 10 years. The organization is cow-towing to high-end RV owners and the seemingly affluent. They are also supporting the parks that have been trying to close down free RV parking and camping through local legislation. When a private enterprise decides to cater to specific groups, I fight back by personally boycotting them. When our Government does that, we fight back by demanding the upholding of our Constitutional rights. (/rant) |

Jeff: Osama Bin Laden went to heaven and was greeted by George Washington, who slapped him and yelled, "How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive!" Patrick Henry approached and punched Osama in the nose. After that James Madison entered and kicked him in the shin. He was followed by an angry Thomas Jefferson, who wacked Osama over the head with a cane. The thrashing continued as John Randolph, James Monroe and 66 other early Americans came in and unleashed their anger on the terrorist leader. Suddenly, as Osama was writhing in unbearable pain, an angel appeared. "This is not what you promised me," Osama said to the angel. "Come on, Osama," the angel replied. "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in heaven." (from Sept. O4 Readers Digest, submitted by E.T. Thompson) Hope enough of you get to read this before Ian has to remove it. This month's RD is comedy. |

I'm almost certain the mayor rescinded his position and has re-allowed the flags or at least the US flag. Read it about a week ago. |

If the flags bother him so much why does he not take his RV park and his attitude back to the Lousy country he probably came from. He can feel free to take the other 9 million motel owners with him also and any other RV park owner that fits the bill. |

I believe that the County's flag should be correctly displayed on one's own property where one wants, but this is not these people's property. It's an RV Park. It's all fine and dandy quoting rights to hoist whatever flag or undergarmant you wish to fly, but what about the rights of the RV park owner who is trying to clean up the trailer trash he has living there, who are stopping him from getting bookings as they are giving the wrong impression to passing tourists? It all comes down to common sense. If the RV park is privately owned, the owner has the right to say what he wants in his park or not. You don't like it, then go elsewhere, boycott it if you like, but your rights mean no more than his. If his means no flags, then so be it, as it's his park. I feel there is a lot more to this than we have been told. The Mayor is involved in this instance and it is a County Park. Since this is the case, then locals will suffer through lack of revenue, if the park gets a bad reputation and it will eventually close. Then everyone looses, all over a flag or three. Personally I would rather not see my County's flag being flown in amongst any old garbage, it should be granted more respect than that. There is flag etiquette which explains how and where flags should be flown. Briefly, all Country flags should be flown at the same height. Country flags should also be flown above all other flags. Full details are at: http://www.usflag.org/flag.etiquette.html It's time people woke up and had common sense rather than quoting some obscure law or demanding rights for the sake of it. It's like not wanting to be served food by some green and purple haired weirdo with things hanging out of its nose and various body parts. The weirdo screams its attire is its right, but it is also my right and the owners right to not have to look at it serving and eventually costing the owner his business, because some lawyer sues on behalf of the weirdo.
