Hi, anyone have a comment on the Sealand #2010 traveller toilet. It is the direct discharge type with china bowl. (Our local rv store has one in stock) Thanks, Patti |

I was happy with mine in my previous conversion. Only caveat, fill the bowl to the brim before using it the first time. There are two overflow holes toward the back that have their own "trap". If the trap is not filled, odors will come in. Also do this anytime the toilet is removed and laid on it's side which would cause the trap to drain. Jim |

Damned good tip, Jim. It took me a few trips before I figured out why the odor was permeating the RV from the toilet. Using the spray, or filling to the brim and letting it run thru the overflow, was the cure. Can you imagine.... we live with that smell inside us. (well.... not me. I have roses) |

Would this trap have to be drained in the winter. Freezing? |

I never added antifreeze to it while living in New England. I did pour windshield washer anti-freeze into the toilet to keep the ball valve operable and blew out all the fresh water lines with air, as we all do up there. I suppose you can inject some anti-freeze into the overflow, if it really bothers you.. The windshield washer anti-freeze is good to about -20 and is cheap enough to use to flush during winter. WalMart runs sales for it at about .69 per gallon. During summer you can do what TD does and mix it with Orange juice. for an afternoon delight. |

Yeah... that's the mistake we all make. We just don't pay attention to the toilet papers until it's too late. (oh my, how philosophical...and humorous) |

When I finally found that little rascal, I plugged it with silicone!! If the inlet water valve stuck open for some reason, the overflow is too small to do much good, in my opinion. Richard |

Our shower wand reaches the toilet, so we just turn it on for a second and aim it at the overflow hole. It seems like it only takes a cup of water, perhaps less. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey 4106-2576 Suncatcher |

We have one & think its great , only problem that may happen is a failure to keep the water seal. This was caused by the calcium buildup from hard FL water. CLR and a scrub brush solves the problem. Works for me, FAST FRED |
