Do a search on the archives, we always use Sikaflex to attach tile/marble/etc... there's a fairly recent post where one of the guys mentions the exact formula. Gary |

You don't want Sikaflex to glue down marble if you are going to grout it with a cement grout. By it's very name, SikaFLEX, it remains soft and cement grout is anything but soft. Put down plywood or cement backerboard underlayment and use thinset to adhere the marble. If you plan on using caulking to grout the marble, think of mildew and dirt problems. There is a reason commercial buildings use concrete based thinset and grout instead of flexible urethane glue. Busses do not vibrate or flex enough to ruin a concrete based marble or tile installation. This, is from 150,000 miles of personal experience as well as an implied approval from hundreds of professional conversions on Prevost and MCI shells. I use Sikaflex to glue auto body parts together because of the necessary flex, but never on marble. Sikaflex is a great product when used in the right place. Marble is not the right place. Did you ever try to get Sikaflex off your skin? Marble is not so forgiving when attacked by black goo that won't come off. Jim |

Here is the thread I mentioned: http://www.busnut.com/bbs/messages/11/6540.html? This is a fairly common way to do marble/stone/tile in Marine construction. Gary |
