Dug,

When I considered ducting the roof a/c, I discovered this ducting system........

http://www.insul.net/prod_ultraduct.html

Might be of use to you. I decided I had enough to do without ducting roof a/c, but my conversion is in a 24ft box. Now if I had gone with basement a/c, then it would have been necessary.

Dug,

I had some metal ducting made by a local HVAC guy. It was 3"x12. I attached them to my factory made Coleman plenums. I had to put baffling at 45 degree angles at the plenum to give the aiflow a smoother transition to make the 90 degree turn into the duct.

The ducting was strapped to the roof ribs with plumber's tape. A 1/4" plywood ceiling is directly below the ducting. The ceiling is 3.5" below the roof.

The ducting was installed before insulation. Foam was blown over the top of the ducting, around the sides and bottom. I've never had any sweating.

My front two Coleman's are common ducted so if I turn one off I still get air to 2/3 of the coach. The bedroom is an isolated duct.

The stuff that madbrit linked in the previous post looks alot like what I had made. You might check it for pricing. It looks pretty nice. I think I paid under $300 for all my ducting.

Dave,

What did you do to ascertain whether the foam sprayed between the roof and ducting fully penetrated the 12" deep area?

I've never seen spray foam in the application process so I have no idea of its penetration ability.

Thanks

PETER, you lovely human being!

I have two basement a/c units that I want to duct and I was considering buying sheet metal tools and constructing them myself.

This Ultraduct is JUST what I wanted, EXACTLY the profile I was looking for.

PERFECTO!

Marc,

There is 1.5" of space between the roof rib and the roof skin. We just stuck the nozzle between the duct and skin and sprayed till it ran out over the top of the duct on both sides. It was a mess but effective.
