Can anyone explain the major differences between these two transmissions? I have the manual for the VS2-8 and yet the VH-9 appears to be the transmission installed in my bus.

Thanks

1 of the major differnces is the shifting between the torque convertor range and direct range... the vh uses an external air shift... the vs2-8 uses an internal oil-pressure type clutch...ive got a vh in an old 5105 gm...

The VH9 is a bit different from the VH in your 5105. The VH9 dates from 1968 or so through the introduction of the V730.

the vh9 is a single speed trany with hydraulic acting as first then torque converter lock acting as second.

The vs2-8 is the same with the exception of a splitter on the input shaft of the trans which gives a third range of overdrive.
