Someone on another board pointed out an individual selling diesel fired hot air and hydronic heaters on e-bay. They said they had to figure out things on how to hook up the one they bought. I have purchased one and am in the same boat. If you are out there - would like to hear what you learned.
Mine is a Perfection Heater model MF 500-AM, 24 volt. Fuel, intake, outlet and exhaust are self explanatory, but the electrical hook up is a little tough. I have seached the ineternet to no avail. It is said to be made by Mobile Products Division, Hupp Co. Cleveland, OH.
Any help appreciated.

What's the difficult part? The power for the fan or the thermostat control? Maybe there is a fuel pump connection too?

I know you're looking for the other guy that did it already, but a typical heater doesn't have a very complicated electrical hookup. Perhaps with some description of what's there those of us here who are of the electron-head persuasion (or even just somebody whoose hooked up some other sort of heater before) could help you get it hooked up.

There seems to be lots of problems with this particular unit in terms of fitup, spare parts, etc...

If it's a military surplus heater there is a Gov't website that has manuals/reference materials.

If MS, Geoff Smith showed a lot of effort and intelligence as he tried developing its use but,IIRC, the 'terminal' problem that arose was the "non-standard" (large literary license in that term!) igniter or glow plug that couldn't be replaced and ultimately became the sticking point. Hope my memory is accurate on this!

The unit has a five pin connector and a vague schematic on the cover. Ground is clear but after that ?
Where is the Govt. site?

I have the manuals for two types of Gov Surplus heaters and I know who has spare Ignitors the problem on the ignitors is that they are FAA approved spare parts so the plane guys will spend more for the ignitor than most people pay for the heater assy, out of town till next week but can email the schematic later

How about a thread adapter for the igniter to allow it to use a not FAA type, Like adapting an 18mm spark plug hole to 14mm?
