Mel, Remember, the power steering box for a 4104 turns backward from 4106 and up. This can make for some exciting time on the road. If you use the entire steering column including the miter box on the bottom of the column, you should be all right. Some of the linkage will have to be changed as well. The box mounts on top of the front axle and the axle must be drilled for the retaining bolts. Box is VERY heavy, many hands and a trans jack will help. If you need parts or help call Garry Dean (919)383-4780, ask for Garry or Robert Moore. Good luck. Jim Stacy |

Well as for the 4104,s steering 90 degree box at the bottom of the steering column. Unless some one has changed the steering column. To a later model GMC 4106-P8M4905A it,s going to be backwards as the bevel gear is on the opposite side of the box on the 4104. The parts manual for the 4104 shows only one. Sheppard makes a powersteering unit just for the 4104,s costly but worth it. I have Sheppard on my P8M4905A which is factory installed and it,s wonderful. jlv |

I got to agree with JLV, Sheppard steering is worth whatever it costs to put in! The Difference is Increadible. I converted a few 4905's from booster cyl to Sheppard. The only fault in the Sheppard is the mickey mouse u-joints in the last shaft going to the box. A little fabrication and parts interchangability can get you the full size (same as Chevy car driveshaft) u-Joints. If you're changing from booster cyl to Sheppard, changing the relief valve spring in the power steering pump to the higher pressure that the Sheppard uses helps it turn at idle speed. Frank |

Bob, I got my tilt steering wheel and PS assembly from Dean's Coach at 919-383-7263. Ask for Gary and give him your details - I' feel sure he can fix U up with what U need. Enjoying the journey in NC, Gene L |
