Recently, I had an engine and automatic trans. installed in my GMC 4108. The shifter does not change gears easily, it binds, and needs to be replaced. I asked for a new cable but the old one was installed. I was told when I took it back that it was stretched but I am not sure it isn't kinked or has a bad bend in it. I took it back to get fixed and I was nicely told to go somewhere else and they would pay for most of it. Well, I am going to get it fixed. But before I climb under the coach and take a closer look, I want to be better informed. Hopefully your feedback will help me this next time around. For now I am not interested in putting in a solinoid setup. I like the cable idea if it works.

So, does anyone know a good or best way to install the cable? Where should it go? How long should the new cable be? How long should it take?

Thanks and have a great day.
