I guess by now if you didn't have any problems you got the S50 going. It sure is a lot of wiring to change to a DDEC engine. Would be interesting to know how you are doing. Bill

Thanx for the inquiry Bill.
Well, it hasn't been a case of getting "it" going yet...all the electrical seems to be fine (the wiring,etc.). I made a 36-wire harness and routed it from my electric bay next to the engine compartment to my drivers station. We ended up using only 20 or so of the wires. It's not running yet since we've been held up by the installation itself. Once the engine and trans were in place, we had to go with a new (used)rear axle (due to the angle). I decided on an RTS axle...the pumpkin housing was too close to the fuel tank, so out came the fuel tank for "re-shaping". Then there was the acquisition of the new "Gold" standard - the 4.10 gears for the axle. Now, it's relocating the turbocharger and modifying the exhaust manifold to accomodate the space restrictions. When...we finally get "it" going, it's gonna be an anti-climax (I hope).

Tell ya what rdub you and tim have more time, money and patience than I do!!!! I'll just be glad to get the ol' 6-71 back going without the leaks. I'm not into all this retrofitting in the engine compartment.

Good luck. It sounds like the exact same thing we ran into. Nothing fits. You end up making and remaking things before you can get it all together. We used a Prevost wiring diagram and now that it is all in and running we have to reprogram things to corespond with the right wires. That should be fun as I have never used the Prolink Plus before. So far there is no codes other then 25 on CEL and SEL so things are looking up. We just have to add cruise control, timed shutdown and a few other things to get it all done. Bill

Bill,
Speaking of cruise control...I was all set with the wiring up front to switch on "cruise" and the mechanic setting up the DDEC (III) says it doesn't show a hook-up for cruise on my computer wiring diagram...hum-m-m, I thought all of them have the capability for cruise. I'm not going to argue the point and send him on a $75/hr Easter egg hunt. I'll do it myself later when I get the beast, er, I mean...bus home! I may buy that Prolink too. You'll have to tell me how you like it! By the way, I downloaded the engine and trans codes from the RTS BB, let me know if you need them...I'll scan and Email.Rdub

The numbers for cruise that I used were as follows
Cruise on/off - 544 - F2
Cruise resume - 545 - G3
Cruise set - 541 - J1
Clutch switch - 531 - J2 to 953 through sw or direct if automatic.
Hope this helps you. Are you using a throttle interface module with the V731? I have all the DDEC info in fact I think I can outdo DD with my library. Bill

I forgot to mention the wire for stopping the cruise when you step on the brake pedal. It is # 543 - G2. It goes through a relay to # 953. When you step on the brake you activate the relay and disconnect 543 from the 953 wire. This disconnects the cruise control. If you plug in the Prolink to the DDL connector it will read out the existing program in the DDEC box. You can reprogram the DDEC box so long as the passwords haven't been changed from default. Very seldom are they changed as there is no reason to do it. Bill

Thanx a bunch Bill! I'm focusing hard on sheparding this thing through now to the point where I can get my bus home and start fine tuning - including the DDEC. Send me an email so we can stay in touch off the board, O.K.? Thanx, rdub. rstoike@fuse.net
