I have a few questions about what people have for generators. First off I have an ORION diesel generator it uses an 8KW Fidelity Electric generator end which now has a burned out stator. My generator is 16 years old with 2600 hours run time, the engine is still good it’s a Kubota D950. Has anyone else had bad luck with Fidelity generators or did I just happen to get a bad one? In searching for a new generator end I found out that Marathon bought out Fidelity and is still making the Pancake style end I need. Also in researching this problem I have been told by two different supplier’s to buy a Newage generator end instead of a Marathon, because they are made a little more heavy duty and last longer. Small problem with changing to Newage, they are 4 inches longer and I’d have to remount my whole generator setup. Has anyone heard of or using Newage generators? How about Marathon generators any info out there about them? Thanks for any information you can give. Mrbill4108 |

So 16 years isn't long enough? Buy the Marathon and put it in. Seems way cheaper and easier than trying to get something that may last 25 years instead. |

Fred, Lima was bought by Marathon a few years ago. Marathon kept some of the models & discontinued others. We use Marathon on bigger sets (50KW & up) & it is excellent stuff. The important thing for any of these gen ends is to make sure they get enough air. Just like a power tool, they'll burn out if they run too hot for too long. Make sure the rear end (intake) is ducted so that it gets clean air from outside, Make the outlet ducts about 20-25% larger going out of your genset compartment or sound box. Sound does not like to go around corners so make them with two right angles & line with fiberglas duct board or similar. Jim-Bob |
