Rather than arm wrestling or handgun play, I thought this might be a better solution for some of the characters on this board. Ace and Marc, JtnG and Two Dogs??? :-)

'Shocking' Remote Control Tanks
tanks

These 'Shocking Remote Control Tanks' definitely live up to their name. Each remote control has electrodes (I'm guessing) that will give you a mild electric shock each time your opponent's tank scores a hit. Set the shock to high and you'll get double the firepower for being a risk taker. These $50 toys look to be a much greater success than the Communicable Funtime Battle Drones, which gave the loser of each bout syphilis.

http://shockingfun.com/product/SHOCKTANK

Not suitable for persons under the age of 14. Do not use if you suffer from epilepsy or any similar or related illness. This is a novelty gift and is not intended to be used as a toy. Emits electrical shock.

Chuck, what possessed you to stir this up?
Bored, malevolent, or???

I never kicked your dog, castrated your son or propositioned your daughter! LOL!!

Ace, the only time I've hung in there against you is when I felt you were being unfair, like now!

The only fairly conducted activity I believe Ace can beat me at is a Richard Cranium look alike Contest! (Thanks, Ian! Good retort!)

Ace, I didn't ask to be dragged into this. The smiley face doesn't excuse your graceless, undeserved and unsolicited comment. Who's acting 14?

If I were to emulate you, I'd be criticizing you for deliberately "hogging glory" with all the posting you've recently done regarding your "bus diary". Unlike your behavior towards me, I'm happy you're making progress. It's your bus, keep on bussin'!

Not pouting, not bending over and grabbing my ankles either!

Taking stock, I don't believe in putting someone else's foot in their proverbial mouths, but I have been known to give them feets a little (constructive or "tongue in cheek") push after they've inserted it themselves!

My usual approach is to ask a question like "Was that the best way to do that?" They may get angry but it should be only at themselves. I prefer that approach to "Aren't you the F*&^%&%$ idiot?"

Somebody has to be pretty rotten or a bully before I feel justified to unload on 'em! Life is too short otherwise!

Are you a little jealous that it didn't cover your "pop rivet mobile"? Don't know where you get off saying "stuck with" though! As far as I know everyone that has a Prevost likes them and everyone that wishes they had one still does! Not everyone considers the antique you drive the sportscar of busses but like you, it's just a relic that will one day go away and Just like 1:1 cars and trucks on the road today, you drive what you like! Is that a crime? Yea I/m proud to own something very few have the chance to own. I had a chance in life when the deal came around and I went for it! Glad I did too because if I didn't all you would have to talk about is my rusty ole' Eagle! What would you say if I had a MCI? You obviously find fault with just about everything or everyone that doesn't suit you. That's cool, if that's what gets you off! Have at it but everyone I know just considers the source/s!

Four Buses and 7 Server Crashes ago, Our Fore-converters brought forth on this information super-highway a new hobby, conceived in knowledge and expertise and dedicated that all busses are created equal (Except H-3s and 4106's)

Now we are engaged in a great exchange of diatribes, testing whether bullies or intelligence shall cause the death or resurgence of this BB. We convene on the Great Busnut BB. We should resolve to reaffirm the ideals of fellowship, comradery and the exchange of knowledge rather than insults and innuendo motivated from shallow personalities.

This we may, in all propriety do. But in a larger sense, we cannot befriend, we cannot aide, we cannot improve this hobby. Those brave Fore-converters, chased away by the diatribes and bullies, have set a standard far above our power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we do here, but the conversion world should never forget what they did here.

It is rather for us the current converters, we rededicate the great task remaining before us, that from the honored Fore-converters we take increased devotion to the current task that they devoted their efforts to - that we here highly resolve that those driven away shall not have departed in vain and that this BB shall have a new birth of fellowship, knowledge and expertise and this BB, of the converters, by the converters and for the converters shall not perish from the Internet!

"Don't know where you get off saying "stuck with" though! As far as I know everyone that has a Prevost likes them."

Many folks choose a Bus to convert as the units reliability was proven in Line Service , about 200,000 miles a year for a decade or two.. (Hounds with good skeds).

These folks shy away from Skoolies because although the can take a rollover , there no where as well built as line coaches.

Prevost has been a FAILURE at selling to major line haulers , although the do sell to high end tour operators that can use them for far lighter duty.
Of course there sold off as soon as the interior gets shabby, or dated.
2 -4 years , seldom even 1/2 million miles.

While the stock parts used are all roadworthy enough , the lack of feedback from high milage use handicaps the companys efforts to make a road coach.

Bus Campers frequently get only 20,000 miles the first year and 10,000 many years after that (if that). So a Prevost works fine as a bus camper.

Prevost has "captured " the camper market (rather than persue the BUS market) by the simple expedients of providing "custom " interior hights , and slide outs for the " I wanted a movable house folks.
And of course the "mine is bigger than yours" folks like ace.

ADD this to their eagerness to push product even at the cost of not being PAID for a year or two by the converter , and you end up with loads of Prevost Car RV's.

Works for some ,who need to join a "club" to tell each other how Proud they are of their choice of RV

Your way,not mine!

Freddy, very good description of YOUR opinion but let me say this. I got my bus, not because it's bigger than yours or his but more so of the fine looks, modern design, and large bays and yes the name Prevost! Do I care if the charter companies buy them and sell them soon after? Not really! That was to MY benifit and others! I could really care less if the Prevost was built, as you claim, for minimal miles. I'm not in the business of hauling people all over the place adding up many miles. I'm building a home on wheels. MY home! Again, I might add and as your statement justifies, it's doing it MY way NOT yours so why should YOU or anyone else for that matter be concerned with what I have, done with it, or plan on doing with it? You keep saying over and over, "do it YOUR way"! YOUR motto not mine! I'm doing exactly that but you still seem to find fault with what I'm doing, because it's not YOUR way! Wouldn't you say that's a little contradictory?
Bottom line is this. I own a prevost! Don't care about the stats of the Prevost! It will work just fine for me for the time that I will be using it. I'm not in the charter business so "shabby" it won't get and since I'm the owner/driver, I can change it whenever I see fit! I like the ride, the style, the size and the age over my previous coaches and the price I paid for it. I like the parts availability of the Prevost too! I also like the feeling that I can call up and order anything NEW, Anytime I need it instead of searching SCRAP yards all over the country for someone else's SCRAP and have it shipped right to my door in a matter of days for FREE! That's a pretty good feeling by itself! I don't have to have a library of books to keep around just in case I need to search for a rare part that might be keeping me stranded! A simple phone call and I'm as good as on the road!

Oh and as for joining clubs? I belong to one club, FMCA and I don't even know why other than to get the magazine which keeps me up on the news! I've been asked many times to join various clubs and simply don't see the need! I can go to the same rallies, see the same people, have the same fun, all without joining their club. AGAIN, that's MY way! If I see a need to join a "local" club that I think is doing something for the hobby of owning a bus conversion, than I may consider joining in but up to now, I haven't yet! Prevost Prouds are prudes that have drivers and more money to spend than I'll ever see! That's not me! They bought the bus from, again your statement, "eye candy"! I bought mine from the description above! If it has eye candy it's because I put it there with my hard earned money! It will suit me and that's all that matters!

Do it YOUR way Freddy... I sure am, whether you or anyone else likes it or not! :-)

Ace,

I'm thinking that FF, and others (including myself), don't find fault with you doing it "your way" as much as we disparage your finding fault with others doing it "their way!" - if it differs from yours.

You frequently misquote or "extend" posts then excoriate people for things they never said!

Similarly, disparaging words like or similar to "relic, antique, pop rivet mobile" were not used by FF in describing the Prevost. Why did you extend the description to disparaging terms? FF did comment that high end Charter lines don't run as many miles with the Prevosts. You appear to agree with him since you said: "I could really care less if the Prevost was built, as you claim, for minimal miles" Truth be said, FF never said Prevosts were made for minimial miles, he just said they've never shown retention in high mileage use, not because of mechanical reasons,(which converters would be concerned with) but because of cosmetic reasons unrelated to conversions, we strip the stuff out!

Why the disparaging terms of relic, antique and pop rivet mobile? It's clear that the 4106 lasted alot longer in high mileage service than seems to be the case with Prevosts. This appears to be conceit on your part since you appear to be inferring that you're a better person than FF since you own a different bus!

Nobody's telling you you have to sell the Prevost and get a 4106 or go back to your Eagle. You both (and maybe me, someday), will be allowed in the gate to Jack's Bash!

Just because someone has an opinion different from yours doesn't mean that the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" out in "Converterland" is claiming you are wrong or a bad person!

You must be stressing - wishful that your Prevost, of which you may be justifably proud, won't be completed for this year's Bussin' event. Just worry about doing your bus well and "your way", not the opinions, actual or speculative, of others. There'll be a Bussin' 2006 and your life expectancy is much beyond that!

Ace,

I think there's a "window of opportunity" here so please read and think before you reply.

Is it possible that you see "innuendo" in the posts of others where none is meant or intended?

It appears to me from past experience that if you did something one way, and I said "Fine, but I did it this way", you "read into" my comment some disguised insult that never entered my mind.

It appears, at times, that after you "read into" my posts ideas I never meant - or even thought -that you react and "expand" or "misquote" my post and then jump me for something I never said or thought in the first place.

Not to harp - just an example - but back to the "hanging tank" post. If you re-read what I said, my first comment inferred JohnTNG wasn't being "tactful". By doing so I supported you! He was being abit inconsiderate, if not unfair! I then observed that the bay floors were designed for greater loads than the cabin floors. This is a simple fact which had not been brought into the thread. I then said whether you or JohnTNG were "right" would depend on "how you did it". I didn't know how "you did it" but then observed that I didn't think you'd do it "wrong" because of your race car experience. Anybody who's gone thru "Tech Inspection" at the race track quickly "knows better", IMHO those guys don't cut any slack. Again, I supported you! I never said you did it wrong.

You certainly showed that you jumped to an unjustified conclusion when you decided that I had!

This, not your coach, is our point.

You're certainly have more knowledge than most. You're a hard worker, by your pictures you seem to do good work. This BB is all about the exchange and ideas and opinions.

Just because someone would do it differently than you doesn't mean they are saying you're bad!

Don't read more into a post than is actually there. If you think there is, ASK! If someone confirms what you suspect, they you're entitled to complain, but don't speculate! It's kinda like what Regan said of Gorbachev, "Trust, but verify!"

Well since this is the pissing and moaning section... Marc your posts are always a pile of pompous bull crap. You harp the better then thou attitude at every jecture. Your writings are those of a frustrated author, frustrated due to the audience not giving a flying flip to what you have to say.

Now as far as the bus bashings are concerned well frankly I could care less if you have a prevost a mci a eagle or a school bus. If you are a ass you are a ass in any of the ones you may happen to own.
Some of you are indeed frankly asses but you are normally easy to get along with asses. Some (MARC) are just a ass for the purpose of stiring up the manure pot. I for one am a Professor of SMARTASSES. I earned my Doctorate in Smartass years ago and maintain only the highest level of learning, from watching the mostly wannabe smartasses.

Now lets stop this petty juvenile BS and go about a level of teaching to convert or showing "your way of doing things" and stop the crap that is always negative. YOU DONT HAVE TO LIKE WHAT THE OTHER GUY DID TO FIND SOMETHING THAT MAY STRIKE SOMETHING IN YOUR BRAIN TO DO YOUR WAY.

Airless,

I agree with you being a smartass.

Like Ace (sometimes) you consistently chose to read more into what I say than what I actually thought or meant.

I disagree with the following:

Pompous - basically infers that I think I or my bus is better than someone else. I do not believe so and there's nothing in my posts that suggests I do - if anything, the opposite. For instance, what's pompus about this:

"But I should be careful as what I seek this may give me the opportunity to prove to everyone that Ace's opinion about me is correct!

He probably is, partially, anyway! "

Better than thou - again, there is nothing in my posts that supports this conclusion, if anything, by denouncing conceit, I stand for just the opposite;

Frustrated - when have I expressed pique at people "not giving a flying flip to what I say"?
I disagree when I am misquoted or misinterpreted, but I've never criticized someone for not agreeing with or not believing what I believe.

Stirring up the manure pot - I do not believe I have ever created a manure pot. I do, however, respond to people, like you, that make or add to a manure pot when they misquote or expand statements that were never made or intended by me, the original author

You can obviously read but I question do you REALLY comprehend, i.e., take the effort to understand what was REALLY meant by the writer instead of jumping to conclusions rooted in insecurity? Your shouted quote, basically paraphrases the very point I advanced to Ace, er, yourself, since if you ain't Ace you may as well be. Do you have a real name, clue, er Airless? Will you be attending Jack's Bash at Arcadia? Will you identify yourself as "Airless"? Or, will you just hide, in a different way, behind your real name?

If you’ll agree to discuss this at Jack’s, let's stop what you call "pissing and moaning" and discuss this further, there, in Arcadia.

How old did you guys say you are?

I learned in grade school not to let others "get my goat".

I can't believe these threads go as far as they do. Can't you all just say "What-ever" & continue converting or enjoying your respective buses.

If anything happens at Arcadia, I wish it would be an agreement by ALL to stop mentioning anyone else or bashing any brand of bus. We all have what we have & like what we like. We are an extremely small group of odd individuals who would rather own a converted bus than a "normal" motorhome. Most of the world thinks we're insane to do all the work on these things instead of buying something factory built.

What we all have in common is that we realize that any & all bus shells are far superior to even the better motor homes.
We should spend our scant spare time giving each other tech help & encouragement.

I, for one think Ace is building an AWESOME bus. The quality of work & the speed at which he is accomplishing it amaze me. My neice would probably kill to have that bus, she really loves the modern looks.

But I would not select that bus to convert because I like the classic looks & mechanical simplicity of the GM coaches like my old 4104. (Which we bought converted.) But I wish she had the handling & power of Fred's 4106.

But my wife likes Eagles so that is what is in the yard waiting to be converted. (If Momma ain't happy, aint nobody happy!) Now if I can just stop it from rusting long enough to get 'er converted...

Like everything else including people, each brand has it's strong points & weak points.

Now c'mon, no more sniping, lets ENJOY all of the variety. That's what I go to Arcadia for!

Can't either of you answer a direct question? Are my questions too tough? You deflect attention using deliberate misquotes to advance a negative attack with no factual basis.

Ace, I ain't going to play "Hatfield" to your "McCoy". You studiously ignore the fact that when I used your name I "defended" you. And you took that as some type of personal insult?

Looking back, when I posted items about my bus that reinforced Gumpydog's site (nothing new I orignated or discovered) you accused me, more or less, of "doing too much work just to show up others", later, when I responded to JohnTNG's question about removing the lavatory tank, you said it was about time I did some work on my bus, now Airless, (er clueless if he didn't track this info),now accuses me of fabricating ownership of a bus.

Airless, I listed several discriptive terms you used, you haven't supported any of them with actual quotes. Your complaints are hollow and you're not being honest. You should stop until you come up with evidence rather than fabrications.

I'm not so insecure that I have to justify my existance by daily postings of my progress with my bus. It's irrelevant to anyone but me. However, I do post significant things, for instance, reinforcing Gumpy's story about the dirty air passages, or info for JohnTNG, fleshing out how to remove a Lavatory tank. In the future, I'll post pictures on the emergency hatch structure since people have asked numerous times how to mount roof airs and this would provide an example, not a "command"

(I know how you'll respond: Flash, from "Marc the Super Converter" - UP in the bus,is it a bird? is it a plane? No! it's an Airless Fabrication!),

Unlike some, I don't need to justify my existance by daily announcements on the level of " Hey, fellas, Duh!, I just drove a 1" screw with my "Toolman" Bimford 700HP Turbo-driver drill!" My mom didn't wean me early, I wasn't wetting my bed into my teens and I've progressed emotionally, beyond High School! I feel like a homeroom teacher sometimes, but that only comes out in me when you guys act out.

I have a MCI-9. It is at a shop - mine! I have a 5000+ sq ft industrial building (nothing pretty to brag about, but the roof don't leak and it's paid for!) I'm doing the work on the bus myself, except when friends,(yes I have one or two!) give me a hand.

I have a 3 axis cnc knee mill, a Republic 16" lathe, DoAll vert and horiz band saws, TIG, MIG and Gas welding rigs, a 50 and 125T Press Brakes, and a host of smaller goodies I used in my business and know how to use them all.

For the bus, I have a set of Zip Dee's, flexsteel couch and chairs, stove, toilet, sinks, ProHeat, genset under contruction, Tanks under (ala Gumpydog) design for construction and a bunch of tidbits stored away here and there.

So What? It don't mean nothing to me or the size of my Johnson, unless I'm happy with myself.

If my saying so isn't enough, give me an e-mail, Mr. Mysterious, and I'll send you some photos if you think I'm bs-ing you.

You say I spend too much time posting on the BB. Think about it. I'm only matching you guys, step by step. Who's spending too much time? I've never started something by popping up with a "your mother dresses you funny" quip.

Stop the illogical, bullying attacks, stop the snide sarcastic remarks, with the hollow excuses "just kidding" (like I'm 14, Ace), and I will stop taking you to task for your conduct.

Marc, Ace,

Please re-read the Subject: Fun at Bussin' 2005. Then re-read the last message you both wrote in this thread.

If your last message doesn't speak to the thread topic, then it doesn't belong here. Period.

I don't give a rat's posterior if you two guys hate each others' guts, but please don't put this bulletin board between you.

I have another place for you two lads to square off - please, both of you, if you want to argue and bicker at each other, please go to:

http://www.prestigeonlineservices.com/chatii/main

Your comments are always welcome here if they speak to the topic thread, but if you disagree with each other and wish to tear each others' heads off verbally, the thread above is the place to go. But understand, it will no longer occur here.

Thank you.

WRITING,

When I respond to a post I am usualy considering that 75 % of the readers are wannabees.

At times the response is direct to the questioner , "what oil should I use in my DD?".

But most of the time the post is written for the guy that wants general info on the bussin topic.

With puff pieces on TV and so, so , so, many Prevosts for sale at FMCA and other RV shows my comments were for the folks that might consider purchasing a coach for RV conversion..,

and be deluded by the vast NUMBER of Prevost "professional" conversions, into thinking there was somthing "Special" about them.

There IS , there Cheap for their age (like a transit) and carry their own problems , (like a transit).
If you love big & shiney , they could be a great RV choice.

"DO it your Way" , is meant for folks to have the gumption to convert , and NOT follow the pack.

The MAC attack (for readers) is to smash the coach to smitherenes , raise the roof and "FIX" the structural inadaquicys with "stong sprayed in foam".

The MAC method for resale of his "Cabins" is just to simply convert a running $3,500 coach, "It drove in didnt it?"
Both methods work , although there are 10,000 other ways too.

That ace needs, what ever it is that he "NEEDS" has little bearing for anyone else in Bussdome.

Have fun gents , its a great Hobby!

Dang, now Fred has dragged MAC into the fray. I don't recall him posting here so I don't understand why.

I think Fred could discuss the relative merits & shortcomings of different makes & even methods of converting without mentioning specific PEOPLE.

When someone wants technical information (like the "wannabes"), they want info like you find in "Da Book" (FF's term). I have never seen a tech manual that bashes the other brand OR THE PEOPLE WHO OWN OR WORK ON THEM!

If we could discuss these issues in factual tech manual format, both we AND the "wannabes" would be better off.

Go, Jim-Bob!,

Shades of the original "Dragnet" TV program, "Just the facts, Ma'am, Just the Facts"

I don't associate MAC with anybody in particular. Did you interpret FF to mean MAK?

My dad's Prevost, once the "Bus of the Year", a "sister" to Steve Fesseden's, was a professional conversion. Many things were professionally done. But, it was not built with a plan towards long term maintenence. The battery tray in the back had vertical tubes open at the top and sealed at the bottom. A fact he discovered when the open tubes, behind the rear wheels, filled with water, rusted and the tray supports failed and collapsed.

The battery box was installed before the dual alts, (mounted underneath) - what do you think was the result when the batt box supports failed?

When I got to fixing things, I noticed that the Alts were installed 2+" out of line of the engine pulleys because the Bat Box, (installed first) supports were in the way. Geez, maybe that's why he always threw belts and had short alternator belt life??? Do you think?

Fixed that F*** up and solved that problem, He now has enough extra belts tucked away in his basement to last him for 100 years.

IIRC, he related to me he had to unsolder the water manifold/supply assembly to replace the water heater. Planned for maintenance or planned for obselescence?

These are the type of experiences from which I speak when I urge people to "plan" and build with an eye towards maintenance.

Sure, the Batt box could have been suspended from the engine bay ceiling, but what would be the result if the ceiling mounts failed (not saying they would, but the superceding, salient point is that prudent failure mode analysis, essential for safety and practicality, suggests that you should consider the possibilities!) If you wanna dood it anyway (Shades of Tweety Bird, another TV program) you makes your choice and, maybe, pays your (eventual) price.

And please!, any of the "lookers" out there, don't get mad at me or think FF or I have tossed a personal insult your way simply because you did this a week ago and logic now convinces you that you should change your setup.

This discussion board is all about giving you enough information, in advance, to make "intelligent" choices, not a survey or referendum on "right", "wrong" or "the best"

Postscript,

I just realized that "he who is to remain unnamed" may interpret my reference about mounting the batt box from the ceiling to refer to him!

Nope, had I thought about it, I woulda kept my agreement with Ian to "take it to the chat room" and used another example to make my point.

Hanging from the ceiling was relevant because that method would have brought the wheel wells into play and prevented water from collecting in the (now) hanging supports which would cause rust and the eventual failure of the batt box.

I apologize for the oversight, I'll try to avoid it in the future. This is a sincere, heartfelt (not hollow) apology,

Busn' 2005 is nothing like this this. It has lots of fun and information for all bus nuts. Please don't let this discourage anyone from attending. Jack and Paula Conrad represent what it will be like, not these guys arguing above. Search and see if you can find even one negative post by Jack Conrad. I can't wait to see what Ace and the others have to show us.

Steve, your right! Bussin 05 will be better than the rest! A lot of fun, music, eats, and chit chat! I have nothing to show! I'll be there but I'll be with the guys in the band and spending time, relaxing time, with close friends! My bus is just another bus! Nothing to see and nothing to gain from it! You've seen one you've seen them all! A bed, a shower, a toilet, kitchen, tv's and what not's! Nothing different from yours!

See you in a couple of weeks!
Merry Christmas!

Hello busnuts

You fellows are still invited to sit at my bus, but you may have to come bail me out first when US Customs finds how much Canadian beer I'm having to haul across the border for to make good peace negotiations.

I'll try telling 'em:

"My busnut friends down in Florida just haven't found some common ground they can stand on together yet, I'm trying to help the process along."

"If nothing else, perhaps they can agree to be politely accepting of this humble Canadian's beer?"

And while they ROFLTAO, I'll drive away and it'll be Smokey and the Bandit all the way from Buffalo to Arcadia!

I better remember to open that governor up a turn or two...

happy coaching!

Ohh, and that other part of the definition that I left out? You may have detected it in Ian's note?

The Canadian: after a long time, when one finally gets around to being mad, best to clear out.

Why is the White House painted white...?

Ian has spoken...

Isn't it amazing how the "media" decided folks that love Freedom & the Constitution would now be RED

and the folks that worship at the alter of never ending & intrusive Government would be BLUE?

Sure will be hard for the adverage HS grad that cant read his/her/its (who said I wasnt PC?) Diploma?
