Is there anyone on the board that knows what particular piece of diagnostic equipment will take a DDEC IV ECU box and reconfigure it to what I want it to do? I have the Pro-Link Plus and it will reconfigure an already installed item but will not enter a new one. In other words if cruise control is not in the existing program I can not add it with the Pro-Link Plus. I know Detroit Diesel will do it for an arm and a leg but if I could buy the proper equipment I have several boxes I need to reconfigure. Thanks for any help. Bill |

Is the software available to the public? If so, what cables are required to connect to the DDEC? Who would be the source? Thanks, Jim Shepherd |

jimmci9 Thanks. I was afraid that is the way I would have to go. After the holidays I will see who is the lowest cost to get the ECU's reprogramed. Bill |

I checked with my local Detroit Diesel representatives here in Virginia. Western Branch Diesel in Chesapeake said..... Since my engine number was listed to a transit bus, they could not change my settings. My RTS is titled in Virginia as a motorhome. To them, it made no difference. Maybe after I get my conversion on the road and take it over there for them to see. I may have a better chance. From what I read in my Yahoo group. Detroit Diesel is the only place one can get DDEC service from. They have the passwords, hardware and the codes to fully tune up a DDEC motor. Of course, we are looking for a hack ;-) Jeff "Take Another Road" Member 4:10 Club Rustless not Busless in Buckroe 1988 TMC RTS-06 6V92-TA DDEC IV/V731 da Bubba |

I suppose we all know this, but for historical continuity: http://www.detroitdiesel.com/public/cust/dddl_reg/ http://www.detroitdiesel.com/Products/Electronics/Info_Management_Products/DDEC_Data/index .asp |

Oh, no, another dumb fireman story. Seems when my brother the Fire Captain got his new fire engine, they were down at the local nameless Detroit Diesel dealership having some routine warranty work addressed. My brother asked the official Detroit notebook computer code guy how much more power could he give the new fire engine, which already was no slug. Sixth gear was also locked out. Anyway, the computer notebook code guy said he could give the fire engine Series 60 Detroit a boost from "only" 475 hp (California) all the way up to 650 hp, but that he would have to kill himself first. And...also that he could give back sixth gear electronically, but City Hall may frown upon a fire engine that could go 105 mph. Sossss, the point of this stupid post is that while things ARE possible... ...the letter of the smog laws in the state of Commiefornia strongly prohibits such goofing around boosting horsepower ratings. Public excutions come to mind and stuff like that. Oh well. Detroits Forever!!! |
