We have a 1982 MCI 9 converted coach. The lights on this bus are 24 volt. We want to pull a trailer.
How do you hook 12 volt on the trailer to 24 volt on the bus? Any answers or refferals to sites with this info would be much appreciated.

The two most easy ways to extend and illuminate the 24 volt signal lights
on your bus, to a tow vehicle that uses a 12 volt supply, is to:

1. Use a magnetic mount light bar fitted with 24 volt bulbs on the tow vehicle.
($40 and up - http://www.florawrecker.com/cgi-bin/miva?Merchant2/merchant.mv+Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=T OWLIGHTS)

or

2. Use a 12 volt bulb in series with the 12 volt circuit you want to illuminate.
(cost of 4, 12 volt bulbs and time to cut and splice into tow harness)

And then..... there are the other ways...... with relays, feeding 12 volts
from your bus's 12 volt source (if any), etc ...

Change you bus lighting to 12 volt That will end all 24 volt problems . I dont know how a mci is wired but if its close to what a GMC is its a easy wire change to feed 12 volts to your light switchs and brake lights and turn signals.
You will just need to look at your wiring schmatic . And if you use LEDs you will have no wire size problems even using regular light bulbs the wire size will work.
