My bus is broke down about 30 miles west of West Memphis and I need to rent a transmission jack to take my V730 out. The only jack that I have found so far is at United Rentals in Little Rock which is about a 200 mile trip to pick up and then another 200 to return from where the bus is. I'm coming up I55 from south mississippi to Memphis and then I40W to Forrest City, return trip opposite. Any lead closer than Little Rock would be helpful. Thanks, Jim |

Several closer than Little Rock. Try this - its a long URL may require pasting. http://www.unitedrentals.com/index.php/urinfo/locator/locations/?address=&city=Memphis&sta te=TN&zip=&country=USA&searchAreasAll=Y |

You could buy one from Harbor Freight and have it shipped to you: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=37481 |

If your bus is on flat concrete, you can use a car engine "cherry picker" type hoist. I have removed the manual trans in my 4104 twice this way working by myself. But you need a smooth surface to roll on or it's a bear to get it to move. Jim-Bob |

zwei Hunden: I've seen transmissions, Old and New; I've seen them red, and I've seen them blue; I've seen them black, and detroit green; but never a t-drive with a v-between! |

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to try it with a fork lift. I looked at the Harbor Freight jack but it has a 17" wide base and I'm afraid it might tip over when I move it. I tried the Memphis rentals and they didn't have one. They didn't tell me there was a place in Olive Branch to try though. I hadn't thought of using an engine hoist. Thanks for the suggestions to all. |
