PL-200 works well and found at Home Depot or you can use siko but I prefer the PL-200 |

Ace, Does the PL-200 work equally well on steel/aluminum as on fiberglass? Does it stay pliable? Thanks, Chuck Newman |

Chuck, About 5 years ago I helped my dad put new vinyl windows on his house. We used the polyurethane sealant. A few months ago I went on the roof to clean the chimney and looked over the upper windows and the stuff is still pliable and has not deteriorated at all. I think it is a good product if it can hold up through the hot Colorado summers and cold winters. It was a real pain to squeeze out of the tube with a regular caulking gun, I would recommend a pneumatic gun. Mike |

Chuck, all I know is I have used it many times and it was easy to work with which is more than I can say about siko-flex. It's far cheaper in price AND more readily availlable. It also stays flexible with the florida hot and cold weather changes! I wouldn't hesitate to use it again especially on glass as a sealant or any other material such as aluminum/steel or FG. Oh did I say it cleans up easy too? Ace |

I have used it for many things including to seat a windshield. It shows no sign of deterioration in 7-8 years in FL sun. Nice long working time (about 4 hours). Cleans up with mineral spirits, etc. Easier to finish & clean up if you can mask off the seam area. Smooth your seam, pull the masking tape, wait about an hour (till it's starting to get firm), then you can LIGHTLY wipe it with a cotton cloth soaked in thinner. This will smooth off any tool marks & the litle line your tape makes. Keep the surface wet with thinner & it will smooth instead of drag. Jim-Bob Do get any unwanted sealer off before it hardens!! |

Also check your rivits to make sure that they aren't leaking. I use 3M drip check to seal the holes in the center of the rivits Ron |

Sika Flex is not what it is cracked up to be. I tried it when reskinning my bus. I done all the cleaning thing.Used the Sika Flex according to the instructions. Used braces to hold the siding in on my bus left it foe 24 hrs. Removed the braces and guess what the siding came loose. Done all the cleaning which was a time consuming job. Put the Sika Flex on again left it for 72 hrs. Removed the braces and guess what .It came loose again. One more time. This time done the cleaning all the things to clean the stuff of. This time I went to the local hardware store bought some Liquid nails construction grade. I put it on and let it set 24 hrs. Been there now for about 8 years and you can't pull it loose.Threw the rest of the Sika Flex away and would use nothung but Liquid nails. Was well over 100$ down the tub. Sika Flex may work for some people but not for me. |

P.L Roof and gutter is the only thing I will use for extreme adheshion. It also does not set up as fast as sikaflex. Less expensive too. You need a good strong caulk gun to push it out. Just my own opinion. Marc |

Earl.... as I was told by SikaUSA, the set up time varies. 252 which was recommended for my application has a work time of about 20 minutes, as I recall. Could be you used the wrong product for what you were doing....I had absolutely no problem and after three and a half years in the New Mexico sun, it shows no signs of failure. The PL products are great, but loooongg set up time. Temps and other changes occur over 12-24 hours .....which can cause lotsa problems. FWIW RCB 64 Crown Supercoach (HWC) |

R.C. I don't remember what I used but I used what the people at IBP told me to. The cleaning and all. As you know the MCI8's tilt in at the window line that is the reason I wated as long as I did to remove the braces. It is just not a product that I would recommed to anyone. There are other products that work just as well and not near as costly. |

Once open, the Sikaflex life is on a count down. Once open, you have to use it all. Limited work time sucked and Sikaflex required you to use their cleaner and then prep. Both of which, once you break the seal, it will evaporate away, even with the cap back on. EVEN states this in the instructions. I used the PL and had no problem. The Big Manufacturers can play with Sikaflex, I lost interest, fast. cd |

Cory.....did not have the same feeling as you have about Sika. Also, did not use their cleaner. Prep is important in any circumstance, and can mean the difference in success and failure. Of course when a seal is broken on a product with 20 minutes working time, one could reasonably conclude that it would harden....ever mixed a catalytic product and had "left overs" for tomorrow? Sika USA will provide excellent directions, not provided on the tubes, and if followed, should produce great results......I learned as a kid, selling Sherwin Williams products.....if all else fails, follow the directions...... No axes to grind here, just feel that the product, if used as directed, as with any sophisticated product, will give great results....time will tell in my case.. FWIW RCB |
