I built a box around them out of 3/4" marine plywood, and sealed it with varithane. I braced the front and back against the sides of the bay. since I have tall bays, and tanks to match, and the passenger side abutts the generator quiet box, I braced that side with 1/4" steel straps - Ronco said that the tanks can bulge out as much as 5", and I didn't want any chance of messing up my sound box. box1

Since I have two 115 gal tanks side by side, I ran three 3/8 inch rods between the drivers side plywood and the 1/4" straps on the passenger side, also to reduce bulge. You can see the ends of the drivers side in the middle of the panel, I threaded the ends and mounted nuts and washers on them. pic2

The hinges are for removal of the wood panel without having to slde the tanks out to get at the screws on the sides.

A small block of wood on just inside the door on the drivers side keeps the whole thing from shifting to the left, and the bottom of the generator box which is bolted to the floor keeps it from shifting right.

The tanks are sitting on a support made from 3/4 plywood and 2 x 4s. This support assemlby is secured to the floor of the bay. The tanks are secured to the support assembly with galvanized steel straps.

I was also going to use a fuel tank for combined gray/black, but I thought that chemical reaction with the aluminum was a problem. Does anyone out there know for sure?

I would hesitate to ask ANY question/s regarding aluminum tanks on ANY board but for the most part... mine work great with NO problems! Tank was from Peterbilt and made into a Black and Grey combined tank that was cut down to fit in bay. Leftover part was used for seperate generator fuel tank! Looks good and my aluminum welds are holding up just fine! Now to get them polished!
