If you don't like the prices at the Cherry Hill campground, and if you can do without electric and water for a bit, try the Greenbelt National Park. Near Exit 23 off I-95/I-495 south, it is only $14 a night. No good for 40-footers, though. Maximum length is 35' and even that is tight because they want all vehicles (including the toad) to have the wheels on pavement. Might be full in the summer as they take reservations from May 25 to July 5, but we're in the 'shoulder' season now and there's plenty of room.

Forgot to say, it's about 12 miles from D.C.
