This is a County park near Hardy Dam.
Hardy dam is I think the 2nd largest earth damn in the world. There was 18 miles of water between the damns with lots of sandy areas to beach at.
We found a rope swing into the river, to much fun.
The park was busy on the week end and so was the river with all types of boats. But during the week the river was quiet and calm with lots of GREAT fishing.
Nice swimming area with a slide into the water. A social circle with lots going on, like horse shoes and cook outs. Smelled nice !

We biked out of the park about 2 miles to check out the Newaygo State park while in the area. The state park had very large private camp sites and we plan to try it next year. We saw lots of turkeys and wildlife. EVEN an elbino 6 point deer, had my digital camera to prove it. All the property is protected land, closed to hunting and traping.

Ox Bow was surrounded by water. They keep the shore line camper free to maintain the beautiful Muskegon river views for all to enjoy. You can see the dam from the park. 120 feet of headwater at the dam. The sites were close quarters and not paved. The river is awesome a mile or more wide by the dam, narrowing to 3 or 400 feet 12 miles up river.
A nice easy boat launch with trailer parking and docks.
Ox Bow Park, we will return again ! 45 miles North of Grand Rapids on us131 exit #125

There was 3 or 4 more nice camping areas along the river. Big Bend park,Sandy beach park, and Brower park all looked like nice places to stay on the Muskegon river.
