If you stick with a flat-panel monitor, something like this might work: http://www.mountsandmore.com/prods/Peerless/LCD/0PPE0130.htm |

Most mounts I've run across are designed for your home, which unless you live in CA seldom hits bumps in the road. I'd be worried that your 1000 dollor flat screen might come crashing down. Hopefully someone has a link to something designed for mobile applications. |

I have a 32" Zenith wide screen monitor/tv mounted to the ceiling on a a hinged frame and just behind the windshield. When folded up, it protrudes down 4.5" and the screen rests against the carpet on the ceiling. It has push button, keyed bolt locks that lock it in the up position. On my list is to add 6" to the top of the frame that it is mounted to so tht it will drop another 6" when let down. Framework is 3/4 angle iron. I fab'd an aluminum angle 2x4.5, 32 wide, bolted into ceiling. The hinge mounts to the aluminum and the mounting frame is attached to the other side of the hinge. Originally I bought a wall mount kit for it with the intention of hinging it. Too flimsy to suit me. Will also add gas actuators for lift assist and a slight bottom back set for better viewing angle |

I put one of those in my RV last year, 12,000 miles and no problems with it. Sure adds space in a room, they seem to be somewhat over engineered, very solid stuff. |

There was a previous post about fear of freezing, but it eventually died when it was discovered that was not true as I recall. My owners manual and the manufacturer have no knowledge of one ever freezing. |

I was figuring on a wall mount on a swing down door with gas shocks or maybe a dc drive motor.....when its up its flush with the ceiling. |
