I have an MC8 pulling a Durango toad with a roadmaster towbar. There is about 13" difference (vertically) between the bus hitch and where the towbar connects to the durango.

When I contacted Roadmaster, they said they couldn't help. But noted that Blue Ox made a 10" drop.

For those who have come across this issue, what did ya do?

Thanks,

Dug

Is the Durango higher than the bus? Or the other way?

I have a machined aluminum adjustable height hitch. I tow two vehicles of different heights and this works nicely to keep the tow bar level. I bought my hitch through Buddy Gregg, Knoxville.

The tow bars that slide into the receiver on the coach will not allow the towing of vehicles with a high or low tow bar position because those types of tow bars are not height adjustable.

Both of my vehicles have the toad mounted tow bars.

You need a "drop hitch."

JB- The durango is higher than the bus.

Jack- Yeah, I've been looking at a 10" drop from blue ox.

Blue Ox 10" drop receiver, part #BX88132. I only had to get a 4" drop, works fine. What is your question? You want the tow bar as level as possible.

I would suggest getting the heaviest rated drop hitch you can find. A 10" drop will put a tremendous amount of leverage on the receiver. Also need a very beefy receiver. I believe they are available in 12,000# rating.

There are aluminum hitches with a 12,000 lb rating and a 7 inch drop/rise. I have one. The aluminum unit is acutually stronger than the steel ones.
