Hi all
Im thinking about leaving my bus around the Portland OR.Vancouver WA. Area for about a month starting around the end of this month so when I drive it home I can stop by the rally in Rickwell OR in July . This is the only way I can think about attending .If I can not find a free place to keep it or almost free I will have to drive it home and a return trip with it to the rally would be not a option.
I do not have internet at the campground so if you can help call me 541 331 6715 leave massage if I dont answer. Also I could use a place to camp for the rest of this month checking out after my 30 days payed for are up.(need to use the money for tires and deisel)
Thank you.

It's bad enough that people have to put up with panhandlers on the street corner and at McDonald's, but now must we also put up with an invasion into our home?

I took the message the same way Jim did. But only after I clicked on the link. It takes you to pay pal, and the next step appears to be the reader giving money, so it appears as if Brian is asking for $ for his tire fund.

I know Jim to be very generous with his time and knowledge. I will be right with Jim at the Rally.

Hey Brian... Try here?
http://www.123movers.com/self_storage/Portland_OR/z-97201/s-storage/results.html
The storage facilities usually charge around $50-$75 per month..

Or you could put a real high price on it and leave it on consignment
for a month at one of the used car lots..

Rent it out to some hookers working the Portland area? You'd
make some extra $$$ for those tires!!!

Brian: Just so u will know which one, it will be the Silver/Red Neoplan Jetliner, sitting on sound rubber. It's one thing to come on here and ask for advice or good buys on parts, etc. and even a safe place to sit down for a day or two. IMNSHO it's an entirely different matter to come on here soliciting cash contributions for what is supposed to be a hobby or interest. That smacks of panhandling, plain and simple; only at a higher level than "hey buddy, can u spare a dime....."

Well Jim Im not going to get in to a pissing match here here over what you think Panhandling is or is not. Its not the 1st time I saw people asking for donations or just funds for fans, fuel mpg things. No one is twsting your arm to do any thing. There is some people that have lots of extra money they dont know what to do with and if they can toss some my way it would help.
I have a lot of extra expences this past few months . Most my money went to helping other people. And trying to come up with $800 for 2 tires $300 for fuel $ 325 for canpground The $200+ for regestration to drive my bus $ 175 for Insurance $75 for the road side I also need to replace the drives side side window for $200+ And having to find a storage lot for a month I was hoping some my have a parking space I could park it so I would not have to drive it home. I just hate to spend $50 -75 when some one my have a extra parking spot. For me thats alot to spend at once it hurts to sit down already.
There is no parking where Im going now and no safe place to leave it there.
See Im not just sitting around town My job takes me out of town and finding time to look for parking or do any thing elese is hard I get my 8 to 10 hr rest and it back to work.
I Do and have for a lot of other busnuts helped and heve let them park at my place and I allways will My number is posted on the yahoo gmc board for you that dont have it 541 331 6715 Home is Klamath Falls OR Im near Portland OR have tools and welder if you need soem help I will try to help.
Thats my life story.

If Im there at the rally you will find me the ugly 4905 with the work for food sign in the window.

saving money on parking, thats cool, keep those expenses down! We all need to do that, and its nice for us all to help the other guy be smart and manage expenses.

As for the rest, do you want some cheese with that whine?

Brian-

For the price of a storage bin place that rents spots for RVs,
you might be able to swap some of your work ability for the
price for storage. Hell, $50-$75 can't take too much of your
time to pay in/with work.. Free's a tough commodity; ain't
nuttin' in life that's "free". At least I've never found any..

Oh..... some of the RV parks have storage also... and the
smaller ones do exchange work for rent...

Lottsa' luck, ma' man..

So far all full up. One with out side storage no fence no one there not good. The other one $325 per month. So you see why I was asking if some one had a parking spot!!!

Brian,
Check around with the truck repair places, many have fenced compounds and if you make a deal for them to find you a set of tires cheaper than $800 they might make you a deal to park in their back lot while you are out of town. Truck guys are usually very easy to deal with and can be a lot of help. Rv repair places may be another idea but I suspect they will be very greedy. Also many UHaul storage facilities have parking but with the way things are going you might not have much left when you get back.

As for the donation thing.. A lot of us are in the same boat. These bus thingies tend to take up all available cash when you least expect. Kinda like doctors. I am in Florida and some things are NOT cheaper here....

Yup, know what your up against. I have to buy food for the family(the've become accustomed to regular meals), had to fix some flood damage to the house, have to buy gas for the car, had to pay taxes-it nevers seem to end.I'd also like to build a Lotus Super Seven but can't afford to do that. Perhaps you just can't afford this bus hobby stuff.
This shouldn't be the forum for panhandling.
