Just varying levels of coarse to fine jewelers rouge and lots of patience. Try to push too fast and you risk overheating the surface resulting in buckling of the skin and likely an uneven polish job. I use a 1/2 motor driving a 8" buff through a 4 foot flexible shaft for touch up work on my Prevost and routinely on the aluminum wheels. For the final buff or touch up I use white compound. |

Busch Enterprises, (www.buschpolishes.com/#) Statesville, NC (704)878-2067, has EVERYTHING you need to polish your stainless. Also a local truck chrome shop may have it too. As was said, lots of patience. Took me two weeks to buff mine out using black emery, coarse green and then fine green for the last step with different grade buffing wheels for each compound. The Busch website isn't quite finished so give them a call. |

Hi Greg Lots of good info already but have found two products that don't require buffers and all the labor. Basically both the same product from different companies. Lasts about 1 year on my Prevost in several outings. http://www.metalwax.com http://www.mrbuffer.com Good luck Rob |

Rob King Does this stuff work on stainless that has never been buffed out? I e=recently bought a Prevost the only thing that has a mirror shine is the engine cover. |

Thanks Arthur.................I do have a kit of everything you would need to polish a bus, instructions included. We have been polishing Stainless for a long time & know all the tricks. If you come to the Bus Rally in Oregon in July, I'm sure they will make me polish something & do a seminar. It's easy to do, just seeing it done once is very helpful. *Just found out last week that a friend & innovator that revolutionized polising Bus'died. Roy Anderson. Anderson Polishing who was Marathon Coaches, "house polisher" & did amazing work. Taught me a lot. People would come to him from all over the country. He'll be missed.......... |

Fred Hobe has some great instructions for shining up that steel: http://users.cwnet.com/~thall/fredhobe.htm In years past, we've used Bon Ami (household cleaner) to shine metal of all types in our antiques/collectibles business. "Mothers" products work well also. http://www.bi-o-kleendirect.com/html/bon_ami.html http://www.mothers.com/products/ |
