1ST: Found a new transmission in Perris,,Ca from a very nice man by the name of Loren. This man has at least 50 buses on his lot, if you need it he probably has it. The trans we got is clean inside and out and the gasket on the pan was still new enough to read the letters. Yesterday, we used a product that my nieghbor recommended (he owns and works at automotive shop) a purple bottle called Super Clean, it is available at Walmart. It works great, just spray it on and leave on 5 mins then power wash off. Today was spent putting in the new transmission, we just about got it all put together (I had thought everything was clean from power washing but I was wrong!! It gets washed again) The only things left to put on are the hoses for the cooler that I wan to replace (have to wait for the big truck parts store to open on Mon). To this point this is the most mechanical work I have ever done in my life both my wife (who has been working by my side thru-out this project) and I are very pleased with the work to date. Monday all new fluids and the big start and test run. Send us good thoughts.... PLEASE.... |

Good luck to you - we know how much work it is since we are going through our own transmission swap. Yes, the purple bottle works! |
