My front brakes are really squeeling bad....very embarrassing and annoying. Shoes have less than 20,000 miles and drums have less than 65,000 miles. Brakes work and stop good....just noisey!! Any input on how to stop the noise? |

Remove the drum and grind or file a small chamfer on the leading edge of each brake shoe. Be sure to break in the brakes. FAST FRED |

When you did the brakes, did you have the shoes "arced" to the drums? (The brake shop grinds the shoes to fit the drum diameter. If it was not done, the shoes will just be touching on the front & rear edges. They will squeal badly. Did you have the brake shop take a small cut from the drum to clean it up & give the correct surface? I found that even new drums have to be turned as they may not be round and the lathed surface is not right to break in the shoes. One of my new drums was .020 out of round! If these things were not done, your pedal will be harder than it needs to be. Jim Bob |
