Hello David. Does it do this when there is any other electrical load on or when all the electrics are off? Do you run down the road with another charging device engaged? Have you cleaned all the grounds, and checked the big cables? Sometimes you can get a flash out of the gen light when there is no load on, and the batteries are charged. In layman's terms, the regulator backs off far enough to fool the circuit. In commercial service, there's always a load somewhere, in a conversion, we've torn all that other stuff out. If not, try running with the lights on and see if there is a change. If you have another charging device in the circuit, that can also fool the "no gen" circuit to alarm. Those running a genset for their roof airs can get this to manifest depending on how their electrical system has been wired. If you haven't, take apart all the ground wire connections, clean, and re-assemble, use the dope of your choice. So, both ends of the negative battery cable, and both ends of the negative generator cable. Check and clean the positive cables too. Check for corrosion in the cable ends. On the darker side, sometimes, if you are "lucky", a flash from the gen light is a warning that the gen is on the verge of failure. If it is failing, you won't get much more warning, it will just fail. I got 15 or 20 minutes from the beginning of intermittent flashes to full on and done with mine. Let us know what you find! happy coaching! buswarrior |

You didn't provide the experts with much to go on, and didn't mention that it is with your MC5.... and considering that you're about as new as I am.... "Gen light has been flashing and a buzzer is sounnding " Low air? Low oil? Oil pressure too low at alternator? The light and buzzer will alert you with it's activity while you're warming up the bus, and until it builds sufficient air pressure (and oil pressure). |

My bus is in the electrical shop now for the very same thing. Buzzer and NO GEN light. I notice that the voltage at the battery was up to 15 volts at times. They are replacing the voltage regulator tomorrow. In my opinion, The higher voltage levels was causing some indicators to send false alarms. EXAMPLES 1. Buzzer and NO GEN light (I measured correct voltage at the generator lug) 2. Water temperature at 220-228 degrees. (measured the water temp at rear of coach with a mechanical gauge at 195-200) 3. LOW COOLANT light ON (saw that the coolant level was higher than the sensor on the tank) Last, my maintenance manual says that an audible alarm and "LOW COOLANT" is normal during warm up but if it continues for longer than 30 minutes then it is a real electrical fault. Hope this helps you. |

JD I would be Interested to know what the problem with your Bus Is, as my temperature indicator Is doing the same thing, MCI-7, and like yours the mechanical gauge Is running about 195. Tony |
