I am having an issue with vibration when using my Isuzu deisel generator which is mounted in the rear above the engine compartment. I did use 1/2 inch rubber pads between generator and frame, however I believe because it is still "hard" bolted to the frame im experiencing the vibration which of course creates more noise. Does anyone know of the availability of vibration isolators on-line? Thanks Bob V. |

Look for air compressor vibration isolators they make some for large air compressors that may work. Brian 4905 |

I have pneumatic low pressure (about 3 PSI) airbags as mounts for my generator. I have no idea where to get them, but all the converters use them. |

Thanks Jon, you just gave me an idea. When I removed the original air conditioning compressor it had air bag tensioners under the mount, I don't recall if there are two or four of them, but they should work great, if I have four. Thanks Bob V. |

They are also called air-springs and used on dually trucks for load leveling. Most trailer repair places and truck stuff places can get them, They are about 3 inches in diameter and about 3 to 6 inches tall. |

I found one manufacturer, But they are very proud of the prices. WOW... Here is the link, However you may have to fiddle with their site to get to the page I have in the link. The part is Made by Barry Controls and is model number SLM. http://www.newport.com/store/product.aspx?lone=Vibration+Control<wo=Isolators&id=2996&la ng=1§ion=Pricing This is not the only one out there, But if you want air mounts this is all that I can find on short notice. Nobody wants to quote prices. |

Here... Look into these at your heart's content: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/searchcategory.jsp?xi=xi&category=%2fMaterial+Handling%2f Mounts+and+Vibration+Control Several categories to choose from, and several different types of isolators. I've found from experience, that if you get an isolator that exceeds the weight of the object and tilt it in (aim several opposing isolators in-wards towards the crank shaft - think bowl here...) it will take advantage of the side-to-side isolation (which is usually better than the up and down. Don't forget that the generator is mounted to a moving vehicle so consider road vibrations and stress. Over-kill only kills problems (unless you forget something...) Cheers! Tim P.S. They will say that they don't sell to the general public, but if you talk to your local city, I'm sure they have an account with them. Just say you're with the city - pay cash, and if they ask, I didn't tell you to do that ;) -T |
