I am considering pulling my original drivers seat from 1962 PD4106 and installing a captains chair or something similar...looking for suggestions...seat belts for them, where to get, etc. also want to add a high end passenger chair with seat belts....looking for ideas, resources. thanx

about $1,000 each is flexsteel's offereing. Very nice.

Also worthy of note are takeout seats from early 90's Chryslers. About $50 to $100 each and I'm told extremely comfortable, with 6 way electric adustments too. I think the guys that did this got them from Cordobas? / New Yorkers. they are good because the electric adjusters come with the seat when they are removed from the car. come with a variety of colors too.

James,

I'm also ready for new drivers and co-pilot seats, and am leaning towards one of the four styles offered at this site under the "RV" listings.
The swivel bases and electric bases are on the "Van" page.

James -

Does your coach still have the manual gearbox, or has it been changed to an automatic?

Reason I ask is because most of the captain's chairs have a longer cushion to them than the factory seat, which makes using the clutch more difficult.

Same goes for an air-ride seat. . .

i am about to make a changer also, except i am going with a nice AIR RIDE truck seat. they start at about $350 and by far are the best for long drives.

just my opinion.

the seat that most of us fellows around here have gone to is the Raccaro air ride seat that we get out of the transit buses that we dismantle. the fellows that have bad backs think they are far better than the expensive flexsteel, as that is what some of us had and we got rid of the flexsteel and now us 2 Raccaro seats. so find who has transit buses to scrap and see if they have them for sale. i have sold over 50 of them at $500 each and have had only one come back and that was from a lady that wanted a different type now she wants the Reccaro back and i tell her you only get one chance toget one and you had yours. her husband and i get alone fine but she swears at me because of the seat.

James,
You did the right thing by asking and finding out what works, so keep on doing research.
My choice was two leather seats from a 2002 wrecked Suburban. Not as cheap as Chrysler, but they are strong, have built in lap belts and I have driven Suburbans and Tahoes for hundreds of thousands of miles so I know they are comfortable for my shape of body. That's another part of the equation; what fits you: are you tall, short, wide, narrow, etc?
I also stripped a '93 Freightliner of the 60 series and other parts so I have two air ride mounts, not so much to cushion the tar strips, but so that when I stop I can lower the seat for entry or exit.
Just my choice, do it your own way. The nice thing about this hobby is that we all have two things; opinions and aXXholes and many of them stink.

My coach came with an air ride drivers seat and I would never go back to a standard captains chair. I believe the air ride is all in the pedestal so you might be able to have both. It did take me a full day to get used to the air seat.
