Several years back my wife and I attended the Arcadia show (1200 miles round trip by car) to check things out. We are currently converting an RTS. I would like to try and organize a gathering in Gautier, Mississippi and would like comments. I believe this would be a great spot for the following reasons: 1.5 miles off 1-10 15 miles from Casino row at Biloxi, Mississippi (shorter drive for beer) Beaches, boating, fishing close by Location would be Indian Pointe Resort. Listed in Woodall's. Swimming pool, boat ramp, etc. Championship golf courses nearby (Davis Love in Gautier, Nicklaus down the road towards Gulfport) October hosts the giant Cruising the Coast event.WWW.cruisingthecoast.com I think we have a lot to offer. What makes a successful event? What kills an event? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim |

Tim I have attended all of the busin rallys. It is great that someone is interested in putting on another gathering. I don't know about using an RV park as all of the busin rallys have been dry camping. It might be nice to have the hook ups. Arcadia has got so big it would be hard to find a RV park that could handle it. I have a few contacts I could put out and see what kind of response you get. |

I would think that "centrally located" would more reasonably dictate Texas; Corpus Christi area if u are also looking for good Winter conditions. Certainly, Biloxi has a lot to offer for a Winter gathering but it is generally "East Coast" in a geographical sense. I would also have some doubts abt. an RV park being the proper setting. As suggested, the numbers might be a problem for many parks. Also, as the discussions on these boards indicate, the prices might also be a drawback unless some concessions could be had from the park. They generally don't cater to dry campers or anyone else that does not want to pay the price of improvements. A reasonable possibility would be a local or regional fairground, where limited hookups are generally available, yet dry-camping is regular fare. Fairgrounds also generally have the meeting facilities to handle a larger number of people for seminars, displays, eating, etc. Our BusNut chapter does an annual at a regional fairground in Yuma, Az. and always has a large turnout as we are able to keep the costs within reason and the experience at a pleasant level for a 1 week gathering in the Winter(SuperBowl weekend, and the week before). Most of our members travl 800mi. one way for the rally. Fairgrounds offer a large area, not the best, but reasonable facilities, and quite often will negotiate their prices once you picque their interest for an annual event that is almost a guarantee of some income to them. |

Surely, there must be a Walmart with a big enough parking lot? |
