UPDATE: I WILL be at BusN USA!!

A few weeks ago I announced that my wife was seriously ill, indeed, bedridden and that I would not be able to attend the BusN USA event.

After extensive tests and a two day stay in the hospital, they have a 98% probable diagnosis of sudden onset rheumatoid arthritis. This is not a trivial diagnosis, as this can be an insidious disease. It can also be a disease that can be managed for many people. There are various treatments that can help improve her quality of life, but there is no cure.

She has been on a steroid treatment for about 10 days and that has improved her situation quite a bit. She still has a lot of problems, but at least the downward spiral (from when we left the Gathering) has stopped and things look better now.

BTW, I want to thank all of the folks who offered such kind comments after the last post. We received lots of emails off line. You can’t begin to know how much those thoughts and prayers meant to us!!

Because of Pat’s health issues, we canceled our attendance at several show. The one that bothered me the most was BusN USA. Pat and I talked at length over the past few days and we agreed that I should attend this event. She will not be able to travel for a while, but with the help of our daughters, she will be able to manage while I am gone.

I called Dick Wright yesterday and he was kind enough to let me sign up as a vendor again. I will be flying in, so the booth won’t have much product, but at least I will be able to see all of you folks who are going to be the event and I will be able to support the great efforts of the organizers. I am not sure if they will be able to schedule either of my two seminars, but it doesn’t matter. I just want to be there!!

Good to hear that, Jim. I will be there with my Eagle 10 and look forward to seeing you. It looks that I should arrive late, being Friday morning at about 7:00a.m. in the morning. I have to drop my sister off at the airport in Portland early that morning, then I will drive down to Rickreall.

Jim,

That's good news on both fronts. I was looking forward to meeting you. Sure am glad your wife has been feeling better. It can be controlled with proper medication. So far, it looks like we will be there!

Whoah. Yeah, that is one problem you DO want to know about ASAP as it can be managed to a large degree.

I may make the rally myself; my own rig (truck conversion vs. bus) will be largely done by then except for solar panels and some "finishing details" such as the safety equipment you sell (interior alarm setup esp.).

Glad to hear she is doing better. Nothing worse than not knowing what is wrong. Our prayers are with you.

I'm really glad Pat is doing better, Jim. We're sorry she can't make it, but sometimes it's for the better.
I am looking forward to seeing you again as we didn't make the Caverns this year.

Our best to you both,

It is good to see how many of you are going to make it to the rally, we have spent quite a few hours making sure that all of the bugs are worked out, and again this year, we have Joe Melroy as our chef. Better not eat too much before you get there or you will be sorry. Prime rib is Sat. nights favorite and I heard that there are going to be quite a few Eagle Club members in attendance, if you haven't registered yet, get it in to help us plan for the meals. Jim, I'm glad that you finally have some information about what happened to Pat, and that she's feeling better. I realize that the hard work begins now, but it's better than not being able to do anything.

We attended at the last Bus'n USA but do not think we can manage this time. There's just too much maintenance work stacked up here in Ketchikan.

Maybe next time.
