I've seen camera systems priced from 200.00 to 800.00 Harbor Freight has a color camera for 29.99. Can anyone explain the science to me? What should one look for and about how much seem's reasonable to spent Thx Marty |

The only real difference is that the rear view system is designed as that. It is weather proof, runs on 12V and the image is mirrored on the monitor. If you want to save some bucks, you can weather proof a camera pretty easy...and there are ways to reverse mirror the monitor image. I'll bet someone here remembers the link that explained that. If you want to buy one ready to go, try http://www.supercircuits.com. They have two. One is $89.95 and one is $199.95. Ross |

You need a camera with a wide view angle, both horizontal and vertical, and high resolution for depth viewing. The HF model has neither. They sometimes have it on sale for 19.99 and at that it may be worth the price for just the 65'cable that comes with it. Go on ebay and shop under surveillance equipment. You can find you a very good camera for rear viewing purposes at a good price. Couple that to a respectable LCD monitor of the 7-10 inch size (also found on ebay) you can make yourself an equivelant system to the high dollar "package" systems for RV's at a lot less money. You also want to shop a camera or monitor that has image reversing capability for your "backward" viewing that allows you to orient your screen view to that of a rear view mirror. |

It is a lot of help. I have mine in the center of my overhead, tilted my way. So when I check my right side mirror, my monitor is just a glance left. |

WalMart is currently marketing several security camera systems. Reasonable. Adaptable. In the photo department. Pay extra for higher resolution and you won't regret it. Most of them are 110VAC, BUT... if you read the package you will find that the wall-wart is 9 to 14 V. Some are AC, some are DC. Like I said... adaptable. ...JJ |
