Hi All, have an 8v71 with v730 has anyone placed a pressure sensor on the trans? I would like to know if a line ever blows again. If anyone has done this where have you mounted it on the trans. On the bottom of the trans just above pan are several plugs that look the size of the sensor. What else has every one done? Thanks in advance ps if user name dosen't imply we have a 79 rts that came out of Tx. We have the rts that came out of tx that two dogs didn't think it would make it to Or up and running great have a race to go next weekend have a great one guys and gals

Rinrts

Looking from the tranny tailshaft end - the left hand plug just above the trannies oil pan is one of the "main pressure" plugs - on the PTO side there is a "main pressure above the oil pan and last one on right closes to tailshaft - Pressures ranges from 130 psi to 265 psi

The other thing that's very important ->
Never believe "two Dogs"

No tow dogs we are not working on the trans its up and running great. Took the bus into town last week with no problems she gets out and runs better then an eagle. The reason I posted, was to prevent the problem in the future. I know you are missing capt ron so go ahead.

On another note, I found someone with an Eaton FSO 8406A for sale, and I'm thinking of taking my 9 speed out of my Crown and sticking this one in. Reason being, my wife absolutely refuses to figure out the crashbox, so to date I am the sole driver of this machine.
The 8406 is fully synchronized and also overdrive, same ratio as the one I have now, and to me it seems like loosing a couple gear choices is a good trade for gaining a driver... comments?

Tony
I have run with a complete set of gauges hooked up to the main/reverse pressure, each clutch pack, lockup port, govenor and temperature for sump and turbine for about 15 years on my V730. It is always nice to know that each thing is doing what it is supposed to. You have to use 300psi gauges for this as the reverse pressure is at least 265lbs. If you do this you must run a short length of braided hydraulic hose from each port to the senders mounted on the frame. If you mount the senders in the transmission they will break off due to vibration. I speak from experience on that one. A good source of gauges is www.isspro.com Hope this helps you. Bill
