I am thinking about a title for my conversion while paying some of the construction bills and
"CHAPTER ELEVEN" jumped out at me......that...or
"BANKRUPT but HAPPY!"

The original scroll sign is gone from our 4104, but I currently have a piece of painted plywood with the notation: OLD DOG NEW TRICK
on it. And no, it doesn't refer to me as the old dog and my better half a the new trick, it refers to the former Greyhound that is now a motorhome.

But what I would really like is an electronic sign so I could change the message as the mood strikes.

When parked, for example, I could announce "cocktail hour", "dinner", "do not disturb","please make up room" and a host of other stuff.

You could probably find a working, programable board at one of the boneyards that deals in transits. There were lots of them on RTS' in the yard at Port Huron, MI. (Sorry, I don't have the number handy.) Not much market in non working transits, a board should be pretty reasonable.

What I want is a bright color LED sign board, two actually - one for front and one in back. The one in front can be used for all of the above suggestions. The one in back can be used with such messages as:

YOUR BLINKER IS ON
(for the dorks who insist on driving along for miles with a turn signal on)

I AM COMING OVER!
(for those traffic situations when you just need to use brute force to make a lane change)

CHECK YOUR DOOR
(for those people driving around with a dress or seatbelt hanging out of the door)

CHECK YOUR TIRES
(for out of balance or flapping tires)

or. . .

CALL ME AT 555-1212
(for the cute blonde flirting in the next lane)

OOOOCH I got the catalog from the floks that make up the scrolls .

Now I know why Jim suggested a scrap programable board!!

They want $300 for 15 names , $430 for 25 , at the place that makes new scrolls.

Double ouch , they claim the std scroll can hold over 100 destinations!

I think it would be cheaper to get a new DD!

That pricing is absurd. In today's world of printing techniques, it sounds like they are milking old-school technology to the bone. You could probably get Kinkos to print you out 11x17s on acetate if you brought them the computer file. Tape a few print-outs together with clear packing tape and make your own scroll . . .? Just thinking out loud. . .
