I have a heat problem with my 6v92 v730. On hot days, above 90, I have to stay below 65 to keep the water temp below 200. I noticed that when I get low on oil the water heats more, i.e. I have to drive slower to stay below 200 degrees. So I'm thinking that if I add an oil cooler that it would help my water temp problem. Is/was there an oil cooler for the 6v92 either OE or aftermarket? Thanks, Jim |

I put a extra oil cooler on the transmission. This has helped a lot. The transmission oil cooler is on the engine in my bus. MCI-8 I have a 8V71 with a 740 Allison. I put the cooler on the right service door. I cut a hole in the door and mounted the cooler there. I then put a fan on it . I have a swich on the dash to turn the fan on. It sure does help. |

Jim-- your 6V92 already has a water-cooled oil cooler on the side of the block as standard equipment. The V730 should also have it's own transmission cooler mounted in the engine compartment. There are many possible reasons you are running hot, using the search feature in the utilities section of this board should yield many ideas. --Geoff '82 RTS CA/AZ |
