What started as a "typical low fluid howl", even though the fluid wasn't low, has become an almost constant scream. The tone gets higher with increased RPM but seems loudest at lower RPM. Holding the wheel left or right a little off center while stopped quiets it considerably. Doing so while driving is scaring people on sidewalks and in oncoming vehicles so the temporary fix just won't do. Is there a bypass valve or something that isn't working? Any other clues?
Thanks
Larry

I've been considering Sheppard PS for my 4104 because of all the good things about it I've been reading on the forums. However, in the past few days quite a few problems with them have been posted.

Am I still wise to consider this mod to replace my GM stock PS and what will it cost me?

Just from what you discribed you have a worn out
p/s pump. If it is avickers pump you have more than likely have worn out the vanes and body ring.

Go with the sheppard...they don't usually have problems. You'll never regret it

It is cheap enough to replace the Vickers pump with a new one that rebuilding is not necessary.
