We are starting the wall phase of our conversion and would love to see some pictures of how your windows are trimmed. Im not talking whether you have curtains or shades, but rather how it was actually built out. Did you just extend the front posts to cover the rubber window trim from the room view, or did you run trim to the windows. What materials. We have an H3 and our windows open bottom out. Any bus pics will help. Thanks. |

I have no pictures yet, as I don't actually have the wood up. I hope this description is clear, its a little difficult to describe without pictures, but here goes. Since you have an H3 and know what the parts look like, this will hopefully make more sense to you (than anyone else reading this mess). I have 2 vertical 3/4 inch pieces that will go on each window pillar, one edge matches the curve of the window pillar, the other side facing the inside of the bus is straight. the widest section of the curve is about 2 1/4 inches. On the straight side of these pieces, facing the inside of the coach, I am putting 6" wide, 3/4 inch thick boards - basically just a straight window pillar. There is a gap between the 6" wide piece and the window (from the above mentioned dual strips), allowing room for the pleated window blinds and covering the end of the blinds. I left the aluminum rails above the windows that hung the original luggage racks. I found these to be a convenient place to attach the blinds (between these and the upper part of the window). The top of the windows have valances that come straight out into the bus about 7" that will have indirect lighting above. They will partially rest on the vertical pieces mentioned above. The bottom of the windows will have boards attached to those aluminum rails that open the windows. If all this is a clear as mud, please email me and I can send some pictures of the unfinished parts. for reference I have a 1995 H3-41. the coach has the framed windows (as opposed to the later frameless). I removed the glass and added dual pane peninsula windows in the original bus frames. So I have sliders with screens, as well as the original awning window opening. I open the window this way to put large things such as the refrigerator into the bus. I am extremely pleased with the Peninsula windows and highly recommend this approach to anyone converting an H. jim dot stewart@cox dot net I am in the San Diego area. I'd like to compare notes with you and see what you have been doing. If you have pictures be great to see them. remove the spaces and replace the dots with periods. |
