Anyone have good ideas or places to get rid of the bus seats that we removed from our bus? |

How close is the river? (call the local Baptist Church and see if they know any other churches looking for seats for their bus) |

Check the local colleges with buses. Sometimes they are eager to replace their seats but cannot afford new. Chuck Newman Oroville, CA |

If they were bolted to the wall, with one leg on the floor, you can reverse a right and left and bolt (weld) them together in the middle to make a pair of reclining "theater" type seats. Use a 2X4 or 2X6 for the legs on the floor (to keep them from tipping over) Great for the kids room, back porch or down by the pond. ...JJ |

Just recently saw a post were someone put them out in his front yard a few at a time with a sign that said "FREE". They all went fast. or You could set them up in your garage, start your own church and become Tax Exempt! Bob V. |

Call around to small charter companies - they will buy them. I got $900 for mine. Then I sold all the REI monitors too, for another $500! |

If you strike out locally, Bus Rider Magazine is a bus industry periodical that has classified ads. http://www.busride.com/ There's plenty of charters out there that still run 9's, and will be happy to buy your seats... if they're still in good shape. Good luck, bb |

I don't usually tell other people's stories but back in the archives 3-4 years ago somewhere is someone who took his seats on a road trip (in the bus)... stopped at every rest-stop (was it along I-5?) pulled out a couple seats, plopped them on the sidewalk and sat on them (with his wife?) for 20 minutes or so and relaxed until the other people at the stop had left and new ones arrived (who hadn't seen him take the seats out)... then simply got up and left, leaving the seats behind... |

There is an outfit in Mountainaire New Mexico that converts school busses into forest fire crew transport busses. They buy good highway coach seats. They even removed mine as part of the deal. Lost their number though. |

Gave mine to the local Community College for their sports team bus and a dignitary shuttle they had. Good write-off. If u place them out in the yard for takers, make sure you put a price on them, like $5.00ea. Nobody steals things being given away. I have a friend who got rid of his in 1 night. He stacked them on a big trailer, chained the trailer to a power pole out on the road he lived on, and put a for sale sign on them for Best Offer, Inquire within. I liked the rest area disposal of all I've heard. |

Hi Guy and Guys Not so fast. I took pics of the bus seats, then placed an ad in EBAY in the bus section. I sold 50 seats from a 91 Prevost for $1200. Ad cost me $11. Definately worth a try. Rob |

Someone posted the same question about 2 years ago, and I jokingly said to "find an empty construction dumpster". Some of you people went nuts, just short of death threats. My post and retort were even pulled off the board. "Where is the closest river"! Come on where is the hostile tree hugger with the death threats. |

I guess we are going to try to sell them, and if that doesn't work, then we have a bad neighborhood we could try to "sell" them at. |

Guy- Listen..... You pile the seats out on your front lawn with a sign that says "free". You go into a bar (the later; the better) and wave a couple hundred bucks and buy the house a few rounds. Tell 'em how you picked up a bus seat from the guy down the road (your address) for free. You tell 'em "the guy said he bought a drug dealer's bus at the PD auction and the seats are from it. He's going to convert into a motorhome". You tell how you got home with the seat and found the cushion had a very, very large amount of cash inside it, and you're gonna' go back tomorrow with a truck and get the rest of the seats... Yeah, that oughta' do it. |
