Injector Problem A previous owner of my coach with a 6V92 put in 9A90 injectors instead of the 9F80 injectors the book indicates should be in it. The mechanic that tuned the engine adjusted the injectors to 1.460 inches per what the book said the original injectors should be. This resulted in a serious loss of power. The problem is that the mechanic has no idea what the injectors were before he adjusted them. Does anyone have any information on what the height should be. Another mechanic told me that the only way to straighten out the engine was to put in the proper 9F80 injectors and adjust them to what the book indicates. I am worried that there may have been a reason why the previous owner switched to the 9A90 injectors. Any ideas? It may have been that those were the injectors in the head when the block was replaced. The serial number on the engine is 6VF134853. This is not the original engine, but could be the original heads. It should be a California pollution controls engine, but the way it smoked before the adjustment indicates that it was not. George Myers |
