Any busnuts in this area? Son is going to be graduating from Basic in October, would like to know of decent, reasonably-priced accomodations in the area (flying in). More importantly, however, recommendations on a really GOOD, local steakhouse somewhere away from the mobs that will be descending upon all the ones close to Lackland. May also have some time available to visit with some busnuts that weekend, depending on flight arrangements. Either post here, or send a message privately to r4106 at comcast dot net. RJ, I went through Basic Training at Lackland in 1965. Is it still 8 weeks? We didn't have a graduation ceremony, we all just wanted to get out of there. Are you refering to the Office Training School there (or used to be there)? Chuck Newman Oroville, CA |

RJ, you might try the Red Barn steak house, they serve a variety and its family style, reasonably priced. It's located on IH10 south real close to the new SBC center. Easy drive from Lackland, just take Hwy. 90 east to IH10. If you don't mind spending a bunch, the Little Rhine House on the River Walk has great steaks--just pricey. There are many great bbq places in San Antonio, one out north on San Pedro near 1604 has been featured on the Food Network. You didn't say when you would be in the area, let us know. Alton |
