Well I finally got the original bus bathroom out. and yes I sure did learn some new curses. what I could use advice on is how to get the floor pan for the bathroom out, any advice and suggestions will be really greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. new toilet is already installed , in a different location, tanks are in and plumbed, and I found a great deal at home depot. a standard whirlpool tub. including 6 jets and aerator and one hp pump, usually nine hundred dollaras, for $ 339.00 it is an american standard discontinued model, called the elite. The bathroom floor pan on an MCI has a flange that extends under the plywood floor. Take a Skil saw and cut the plywood floor about 2" outside the visible edge of the bathroom floor pan. Set the depth so that you just cut through the plywood so as to not make contact with any steel that is below it. You will likely need to chisel the plywood at the edge of your cuts that meet the wall and the platform at the back as the Skil saw cuts won't reach right the the edges. If I recall correctly, the bathroom floor pan was also fastened with screws or rivets to the structure below. I think I broke these off to get the floor pan out. Hope this helps. Yep, the lip underneath the floor in the front of the pan is what's the conundrum. I did similar to David, but used a wood chisel (before I didn't have a clue how to do it right ;) to hack away at the floor an inch or two in front of it. After you get the lip, it comes out with not much more effort. There's aluminum plate underneath the pan, so don't hack into that unless you're doing extensive replacement. |

many thanks to David and Chuck, Chuck you always seem to come through for me, hope to get to meet one day. got the floor pan out yesterday, thanks to your post.no fun in that project. but it is done. next question, the hole behind the mirror, where the water tank was. would it make a good location for a safe, or will it get too hot in there. I can't see it as a problem. We put in cupboards along the back. See the attached photos. Dave D. and

I think putting a safe there is an excellent idea, but I wouldn't put any cameras or other stuff that has oil that could liquidize. (I ruined a good lens that way one time.) But it would be perfect for all that jewelry you bought your sweetie because she let you have a bus! ;) |
